Stupid Java question

I know this sounds stupid, but I just can´t figure out how to use a compiler in Win XP... I´ve only used a Mac w/ OSX before, and it´s so easy... I just use the "terminal" window, and that´s it.

Do I have to download J2sdk from Sun to get a compiler? Or is it integrated in Win XP?

I´m completely new to programming, so I really need help with this.

Sun's is not the only compiler to get you going, but it's probably the easiest to seek help with.

If you download the borland product it's a bit more user friendly and also blessed with a large community of users.
