Stephen Colbert - Racist

I don't watch it as frequently as I used to, but I'm pretty sure he introduced that character/joke in the first few weeks the show premiered; looked like they just re-used the clip.

Yes, it was a parody of Rosie O'Donnell's ching chong thing, IIRC. That is what makes it part of the Colbert tradition and why it shouldn't be stopped.

I'm a little surprised Colbert would allow Comedy Central people who aren't directly connected to his show to tweet on his behalf. Maybe it was a non-negotiable contract stipulation.

I could see him entrusting someone on his writing staff tweet for him, but not to an unrelated CC social media employee. From what I've observed over the years (even pre-Colbert Report), it seems like he would tightly control what goes out in his name given the care he's given to the character's brand.

Wow, Colbert episodes are commercial free on the website. I didn't know that. Pretty sure Stewart's episodes are split with commercials between segments. Guess I need to check.

I thought the same way, particularly given that his humor is a bit tough to pull off. When you do that kind of satire, you should be ready for people to get angry, and you absolutely must set up well. Yank out the context, and it's just a racist statement. It's when the Onion had to apologize for that tweet about Quvenzhane Wallis. It was a bad joke, plain and simple (both the onion on, and the out-of-context Colbert one).

Saw this video just now, got a chuckle out of me.

Let me get this straight- get offered a venue for your opinions, and then refuse to explain your opinions because host disagreed with you. Which is automatically patronizing because the host is a white male.

I'm sure she tells everyone that she is shouted down in patriarchal society, and ignored.

EDIT: I realized that my phrasing of that was poor. I meant that "I'm sure she insists that she is shouted down and ignored in patriarchal society." I don't think she is ignored when she says these things, I'm sure she has her share of sycophantic followers to reinforce her victimhood.

She also got quite a few racial slurs and rape/death threats from outraged fans - which Colbert himself denounced.

Watched the whole interview here.

In the very first slot of time she has she says that activists have to make big demands to get the conversation started because "reasonable" ones are overlooked.

Uh huh.

No doubt those are the idiots who also don't understand satire, and think Stephen Colbert (the character) really is their champion of misogyny and racism. I've known more of these morons in my life than I care to remember.

I don't know why all these people are getting upset about the Washington Redskins anyway! It's history goddammit!!!

I predict, Colbert will have her on the show. Just my psychic vibes and the promise of a million dollars if I can prove I have them. :)
