What, do your limbs fall off if you stop thinking about them???

No, don't answer that until you're sober.
Actually, I was referring more in terms of the overall picture. How can you even begin to speak of the details without that?

Why? Is it too much to start with the details and assemble your overall picture from those?

No, not at all, provided that you believe there is an overall picture and, that this is what ultimately determines the details.

You need to learn how to figure things out for yourself. Nobody's going to hold your hand. It's part of growing up.

You misunderstand my intention here.

Stacks of time is wasted because some of the Christians debating here are making basic mistakes in the understanding of evolution.

So my intention was to help produce a ground where we can debate / explore etc on a better level.

A slanging match doesnt seem to help anyone.

If i'm wrong here, just tell me and i'll go away.

What is there to say, be it in the biological or cosmological sense, except that it's the process of change. The only stipulation I wish to make, is whether the process is "directed" or not, for obvious reasons.

And the answer is "no".

Great, next topic?

What is a fact, outside of your opinion of it?

That which remains true no matter what anybody thinks about it. I could call a rock a spaceship but it's still going to be a rock. I could convince myself that it is a spaceship, but it's still going to be a rock. I could sincerely believe that the rock is a spaceship, convince everybody else in the world to do the same, and it's still going to be the same rock.

Whereas if I don't like the rock, I can always change my mind.

Not really. The rock can be changed by things that happen to it regardless of opinion, they just weren't relevant to the example. Suppose it was carved into a statue.

Then that would have something to do with the "descriptive" laws of physics, as Merc would say.

Carving it into a statue would change its form, and so we change the label to describe it. "Physics" is the forces acting upon the rock.
