"Something" to mediumship? Porterboy explains.

Perhaps Porterboy actually meant . . .

"I'm a mature adult and I chosen to take an interest in Spiritualism and come to the emotional conclusion that I want there to be something in it."

It is a common misconception that woo folk have, that if a psychic is not really psychic, the reading will not be convincing. They feel convincing = psychic.

What they fail to realize is; the mediums convincingness has an alternate explanation.

So someone who is skeptical of a psychic may go to see one, and not be aware of cold reading techniques, and come away utterly convinced. Because they had a misconception that the psychic would not be convincing if they were not truly psychic.
