So it's pretty amazing, but Newt's support is just evaporating.

My question is why? Is it really just the attack ads? Is there something happening on right wing talk radio that I missed (because I never listen to right wing talk radio)?

Folks on the right: what's your take? Why is he just plummeting without a scandal or a debate gaffe?

This doesn't surprise me at all. There have been a lot of conservatives speaking out against him (some rather vehemently) recently, and I'm sure that's had an effect.

I think in the end the Republican party will do what it's always done: hold their noses and go with the guy that's most electable. It's going to be Mitt Romney.

Are we all out of flavors of the month? Teapeople will just sigh and give up and let Romney have it?
That's my question. I can't imagine Paul would actually lead the pack, but at this point he may be the most rational non-Romney/Huntsman candidate.

Maybe it's Palin's turn to trend? I mean, why would it have to make sense?

Well, let's say that Romney does get in, with the Teawing ready to sit out in protest. This is the same situation McCain found himself in. That's why McCain picked Palin, in order to placate the crazy wing. So is this what Romney will do? If so, will it help? Let's say he picks someone like Jim DeMint. Does having a far right ideologue on the ticket hurt with independent voters, or was it just that Palin was so unbelievably bad that had McCain picked a better wingnut, he'd have actually helped himself?

Jeb could jump in as a write in candidate.

Paul's "rationality" tends to evaporate under scrutiny... Which I suspect is Newt's problem as well... People kept looking into the conveniently-forgotten baggage...

Don't worry...The Donald says he'll jump in if they don't pick a proper candidate.

Well, there's this guy, who nobody seems to have noticed.

Has Trump ever been asked, "Is Romney a proper candidate?" I wonder what he (non-)answered.

I'm not sure. I think that the "mainstream" Republicans may be sitting out this Primary in disgust.

I think the vast majority of mainstream republicans quit referring to themselves as "republicans" a long time ago.
