Merged So Ebola's back......

1,069 now dead.

And less press every day. I suppose that is to be expected, with Iraq, Ukraine, and Gaza blowing up, riots in Missouri, Robin Williams and Lauren Bacall, and other assorted news. It seems like the hysterics who were convinced that Ebola was the end of the world have shifted their attention to ISIS now. The news seems have more terrible stories that usual these past few weeks.

Is the outbreak getting worse, or getting better? I mean, it can be growing, but still be getting "better" if it is not growing as fast as previously.

Scale of Ebola epidemic "vastly" underestimated - WHO

The World Health Organisation has said the magnitude of the Ebola epidemic in west Africa has been "vastly" underestimated and that it was coordinating "a massive scaling up of the international response", in an attempt to tackle the worst epidemic of Ebola since its discovery.
What it describes as "extraordinary measures" are being put in place to contain the outbreak.

"Staff at the outbreak sites see evidence that the numbers of reported cases and deaths vastly underestimate the magnitude of the outbreak," it said. "The outbreak is expected to continue for some time. WHO's operational response plan extends over the next several months".

In other news:

  • A fourth person has died from what is believed to be Ebola in Nigeria
  • The United States has ordered the evacuation of diplomats' families from Sierra Leone
  • Restrictions on athletes from effected countries have been imposed in the Youth Olympics, which start in China this weekend: "Athletes from affected areas will not compete in combat sports" and "it was also decided that no athletes from the region would compete in the pool".
  • The first person suspected to be infected with Ebola in Ireland is in isolation at the Mater hospital in Dublin.

Wishing for something to come along that wipes out specific hated groups of people? How eugenicist of him.

From the article:

“If Ebola becomes a global plague, you better make sure the blood of Jesus is upon you, you better make sure you have been marked by the angels so that you are protected by God,”

I don't see how smearing yourself with additional bodily fluids is supposed to protect you from ebola.

This sort of suggests the patient in Dublin does not have ebola.
But it seems to be awaiting official confirmation.
... and, not to be outdone by Ireland, Scotland announces it's first suspect (but not very likely) case...

Just a bit of precautionary panic. Though it's good to see that the screening, quarantine and testing procedures work OK.

More craziness:

While discussing the shipment to Liberia of an experimental drug the panel did endorse, ZMapp, Nigeria’s health minister, Onyebuchi Chukwu, said an unidentified Nigerian scientist living overseas had arranged for Nigeria to get a different experimental medicine, according to Nigerian news outlets. They identified it as NanoSilver, a supplement offered by the Natural Solutions Foundation, which said that it contains microscopic silver particles, although, as a food supplement, it is not tested by regulatory agencies. Silver kills some microbes on surfaces and in wounds, but it can be toxic and is not F.D.A.-approved for systemic use against viruses.

[...]
NanoSilver is for sale on the foundation’s website alongside hemp oil, ear candles, chocolate and “mental clarity packs.”

Recently, the foundation’s medical director, Dr. Rima E. Laibow, posted an “open letter to heads of Ebola-impacted states,” dated July 29, claiming that NanoSilver cured Ebola. She also claimed to have addressed 47 African health ministers at a 2007 conference and to be in touch with “West African governments and their advisers.”

Oh dear! Rima E. Laibow is such a complete quack! She seriously is!

On an aside, I believe she is married to retired Major General Albert Stubblebine who is a 9/11 Truther and better known for being a sponsor of such things as Project Stargate (use of remote viewing in intelligence operations) and for allegedly running into walls because he thought if he was in the right mental state he might be able to just pass through them.

Yes, that Major General Albert Stubblebine! I guess sometimes the nuts do find each other.
