Where's the fun in that?
For me, astronomy is freezing my goolies off in all weathers, filling my laptop hard drive with huge stacks of photos hoping to get just one stack that averages out into a nice clear image... only to find out the batteries in the scope motor drive have leaked and knackered the mount. And I forgot to bring my Thermos.
And then I realise a) I don't have enough petrol to get back home from this lovely dark-skied mountain and b) there are very few petrol stations in this deserted part of Wales.
Why on earth would I want to give up all that fun and joy?
