Santorum's brilliant attack ad.

Santorum really needs to do a positive add, showing him petting an Irish setter.

Ah, playing the Irish Catholic card, eh? ;)

I was going to add that the ad should include him drinking a beer, but that's a bit too stereotypical. (I realize Santorum's folks are from both Italian and Irish flavors of Catholics. . . )

Amusing;but what I was referring to was Romney's dog (I believe it was an Irish setter), the one put on the roof of his car for a 12 hour drive to Canada in the winter.

Thought it was a clever ad myself...

For those interested in the technicals, the "mud gun" is in fact a paintball gun, specifically a Tippmann A5 with cosmetic improvements. Must have been pretty easy to film -- you load up with bright blue paintballs, shoot off a bunch, then go in with a chroma-key editor to replace the blue splats with mud. Simple.

The specific kit is a mystery to me since I've never seen one quite like that. You usually see skeleton or folding stocks on the kits; a full-size composite stock is rare. If I had to guess, I'd say it was made by Engler Customs, though Rap4 is another possibility. Probably a one-off.

I have a similar, full wood-stocked Thompson M1 simulant built off of an A5. Weighs a ton.

Anyone notice this ...

"... job-killing cap-and-trade..."

How many things have the Republicans called "job killing"?

You'd think Santorum would know enough to distance himself from frothy brown fluids.

Steve S

And Romney should go directly at that. Use it for heaven's sake!!!:D:D
When your opponent is a frothy mixture, hit that over and over again till it covers all the republicker voters!!!!!:D:jaw-dropp:D:jaw-dropp:D (I know they want to be covered, yay, drowned in it - but this time I am willing to give them all they can swallow - and then a cubic yard or two more!!!:D:jaw-dropp:D

Just for grins, I typed "job-killing" into the Google search field and didn't hit enter but waited for the suggested search terms to drop down. The list included:

job-killing regulations
job-killing epa
job-killing health care law
job-killing taxes oregon
job-killing policies
job-killing environmental regulations
job-killing legislation
job-killing energy tax
job-killing tax hike

and so on.

Wouldn't surprise me. They've both shot themselves in the foot.
I was thinking more about the NRA shooting themselves when faced with the prospect of choosing one of these guys. But your thing works too.

The fact that they apparently couldn't even be bothered to proof it (note the lack of opening quotation marks) is icing on the cake.

Indeed. Although I suppose it could be possible that they left the opening quote marks off on purpose - to show that it wasn't a real quote.

ETA: I was wrong - see next post

It makes me wonder exactly which part of it was meant to be a direct quotation of whom.

Indeed.
{What I said before looking up the quote}
Also, I think they might be playing fast and loose with the definition of advisor. If it said "high-ranking, paid advisor" I'd give it a scintilla more credence, but as it stands they might be talking about an intern or a volunteer worker. Hell, given the source of the "quote," it might even be an anonymous caller to the Limbaugh Show who claimed to be a Romney adviser.

ETA:
I decided to hunt down the quote.

The RushLimbaugh.com site does have a transcript titled "Romney Advisor Admits Romneycare was Blueprint for Obamacare"

Apparently, it comes from Jonathan Gruber, former Romney health care consultant and MIT professor of economics, when he was talking about helping to create Obama's medical plan.

GRUBER: You know when I was advising both the Obama administration and Congress throughout 2009, the number of times I got asked, "How did you do it in Massachusetts? What made it work in Massachusetts?" the administration and the Congress were taking a big leap into unknown territory, and the fact that they had that example to lean on was so, I think, comforting to them in taking that step.
