San Antonio mayor links poverty, religion

I think Mayor Taylor should visit rural Appalachia, or South Dekalb County, GA. Then maybe an overseas trip to Papua New Guinea, East Africa, or the Favelas of Brazil. Then finally cap the entire trip with a lovely weekend in Iceland.

Then, maybe Mayor Taylor will sit down and STFU.

Generational poverty is a leading cause of imagined relationships with creators.

Indeed - promises of riches in the 'next world' is one of the key weapons religion uses to stop poor people revolting.

I thought it was well established that Catholicism, for instance, dominated in poor countries.

Meanwhile some of the richest and best educated countries are the least religious.

I guess that explains Mexico's poverty, it's not like nearly 90% of the population are Catholic or anything....

These two conditions are not mutually exclusive.
Technically, on a scale of mental impairment, the two are not the same and an idiot is worse off than a moron. Though I am sure with the grace of god on her side this fool can be both an idiot and a moron at the same time.

Actually, she's got a point.

After all, isn't it the christian thing to share everything you have with fellow christians?
I'm sure that is in the bible somewhere.
So the lack of christianity, especially in the rich in the US, is the cause of the poverty of the rest as otherwise the rich would share their wealth with their christian brothers.

That is what she ment right?

Isn't Christianity the religion around Jesus, the guy who said to give all your possessions away, and kept harping about how wealth was evil, and something about shoving a needle right throught a rich person's eye? If I worshipped a deity who said stuff like that I'd try hiding my money in a secret bank account in Hell where he couldn't find out about it.

She doesn't even have to go that far. SA has a huge Catholic population; hell, they have a huge religious population. 20% of SA is living in poverty. That was an extremely dopey thing to say for the mayor of a city with SA's demographics.
