Saddam arrested?

This is truly fantastic news. Now with the threat of evil Saddam removed, we can expect a speedy withdrawal of all US and UK troops, the immediate transfer of all power to democratically elected Iraqi parliament with full control over fossil fuel resources and the cancellation of all debt repayments.

One can only hope. Let's see how France et al feel about debt forgiveness now.

Talk to France Germany and Russia about the debt part. And let's have the elections first so that there doesn't become a warlord type of rule.

One other thing that is nice about taking him alive would be all the money he stole. Now we can have a chance to find the money he took from the people and give them a little extra boost in rebuilding.

Long time, no Baath.

Okay I have to use that at another board I post at, but I will credit you for it.

Well, this deserves a language award nomination and it will be a clear nomination about language :)

Not wishing to rain on any parades, but the humiliating way Saddam behaved at the end is yet another humiliation for the Arab world. Whether this will prompt a change of thinking or continuing retreat into victimhood and bitterness we will have to wait and see. Frankly, I'm not optimistic.

Not a single psychic, astrologer, clairvoyant or remote viewer had any clue of this...

I just saw a photo of Saddam on the CBS TV news. They had given him a ba'ath and a shave. I keep wondering if he was shaved by a military barber, and if there was a razor involved. I'd give points to the military barber for restraint, if so. I'd have been tempted to slit Saddam's throat if I were giving him a shave.

You should be more optimistic. This is going to take some serious wind out of the fight against the coalition.

Did you think the "Arab world" was on Saddam's side?

Good, we found Sadaam and didn't kill him.

Now, maybe we'll find the things we came to Iraq for in the first place....Sadaam's weapons of "mass destruction".

Right. He should have gone out guns blazing just like he exhorted his "martyrs" to do. F'ing hypocrite.

A reasonable, though less acceptable, alternative would have been for him to bite a barrel.

Coward.

Yeah, just thinking about that. Don't you think at least 1 of the 400,000 or so he had killed would have communicated with JE? Again, the language would have been arabic.

Wouldn't matter. John Edward can understand Chinese (although it is still undecided which), so even if the victims are speaking arabic, he at least should be able to communicate with them.

Funny, JE has no problems getting dead New Yorkers from 9-11.....

I quote this for future reference.Especially the part of the Arabs that retreat into victimhood and bitterness...

Maybe he is a zionist and hates arabs.

No RV'ers, no no body with anything. I will bet $1000 that within 6 months some loon will say that "they were working closely with centcom". Any takers?

I have a feeling that at this point the soldiers would have had the kind of response to such a loon as we probably all fantisize about occasionally. Not that I am in favor of violence or anything.

Well, maybe sometimes, but just a little:D

Nicky Santoro: A lot of holes in the desert, and a lot of problems are buried in those holes. But you gotta do it right. I mean, you gotta have the hole already dug before you show up with a package in the trunk. Otherwise, you're talking about a half-hour to forty-five minutes worth of digging. And who knows who's gonna come along in that time? Pretty soon, you gotta dig a few more holes. You could be there all ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ night.

We came to Iraq for Saddam, too. DOH!!!

As for the psychics, John Edward sees pictograms. So dead Arabs shouldn't be a problem. The real problem is that he has to be in the same room as someone related to the dead Arab, you see...

The psychic woo-wooism is a non-factor now. But that won't stop some other jackass from saying it ain't the real Saddam. Stand by for a bunch of conspiracy theories.

"He's an actor hired by George Bush to boost morale..."

"He's one of Saddam's lookalikes. The real Saddam is hiding in Argentina with Adolf Hitler, sipping tequilas..."

And don't forget that billion dollars. A real tasty morsel for conspiracy theories.

As for Saddam and a trial, the best thing is to turn him over to the Iraqis and let them have a very public trial. Let the families of his victims confront him in person. Play the video of the members of the legislative body being taken outside to be shot as Saddam sits and puffs on his cigar.

I would say hang all his henchman, but not the man himself. For political reasons.

How about they build a building in Baghdad, it would be like Lenin's mausoleum, except Saddam will be alive in a cell, and everyone in Iraq can take a look any time they wanted for as long as he's alive.

You will hear no praise from the left.
We shoulda got him sooner!
Where's the WMDs?!
My butt itches, and it's George Bush's fault!

Since we've had some of our "lefties" already praise it, are you willing to say you were mistaken?

I for one think it's great news and I cheer the tireless efforts put in to finding him.
