Looks like Gage's new wealthy sugar daddy "Ric" von Maur, who paid his recent trip to the Bahamas and the "Experts Speak Out" screening there (here's a video of the event he uploaded to Vimeo), is an aspiring filmmaker who is currently working on a 9/11 conspiracy related script about a "hero that goes against the establishment", and - as if that idea wasn't stupid enough already - that "hero" is supposed to be based on Gage:

"Richard, in 2006, saw some video footage that alarmed him, and he started researching it and began to question 9/11 and it changed his life, so that's what we're exploring with this screenplay."

It appears that the script - working title "Free Fall" (web site, Facebook) - used to be about a "physics professor" named "Stephen" (wink, wink) who uncovers the "Truth" about 9/11, but is now in the process of being reworked with a Gage theme. And, boy, is the poster tasteless.

I expect nothing less than the "Gandhi" of low-budget direct-to-self-distributed-video vanity turds.

Cults always need to deify their guru.

Maybe ... but a film about one of the mousiest and most uncharismatic cult leaders around is still ... special. It will need a special actor to pull that off. While I assume that the role has already been offered to AE911's all-purpose actor Sunjata, I want to humbly suggest everyone's favorite bad actor/director Tommy Wiseau for the lead, as he should be one of the few people that can bring all facets of Gage's complex personality to the screen. He should be quite cheap, too.

Something worth of "The Producers" maybe?

"You know, a failed attempt at getting a new investigation might make even more money than a successful attempt, since the promoters could send out a new call for donations...."

Brilliant! I think you've nailed Gage's entire business plan here.

RODUCTION: SUMMER 2014 RELEASE: September 11th, 2015

FREE FALL
A feature film about a Physics Professor who's life is turned upside down when he makes a shocking discovery about 9/11.

In Development

Shocking discovery - he is fired.

Going nuts over thermite - now Gage, an advocate for a new investigation, will not stop advocating until donations are below travel costs.

Follow the $$$ - 911 truth, nothing to far out if it makes $$$.

Gage makes money selling stupidity to the people acting stupid.

Interesting, because that's not the way Gage has always explained his Road to Damascus moment. He's always claimed that he was driving his car and listening to a Pacifica radio interview with David Ray Griffin.

Well, to be fair, this will have to be heavily fictionalized, as there's not much inherent drama in a mousy middle-aged guy going around giving powerpoint lectures based on other people's work.

Too much charisma.

I'd be surprised if it makes it beyond a 'trailer'. However, if it garners a few precious days employment for Dylan then it might have some redeeming value even if it ends up on YouTube. :)

The director/writer/producer is an offspring of the von Maur family that owns the Von Maur department store chain, so there appears to be some money available for him to follow his dream of becoming a filmmaker, at least on a comparably low-budget level - and he has already shown once that he is willing to invest in a modestly sized, self-scripted vanity film project. All in all just the right incredients for a Truth movie whose crappiness is not limited too much by talent requirements, marketing concerns and naysayers with professional standards. A bit like the "Operation Terror" movie, whose entire budget was covered by the real estate guy slash amateur film producer who wrote it, or "The Reflecting Pool", which was also privately financed by the people who made it. Of course the price tag of "Operation Terror" was only $100,000 (and judging from the trailer, it does not look one dollar more expensive than that). Von Maur's first film appears to have had an initial budget of $600,000, and I wouldn't expect his Truth movie to be cheaper.

The truth movement is determined to go down flailing.

Never heard of Tommy Wiseau (thankfully, it seems). Does his stuff actually air? If so, then I may just have found my new high-paying career

He is the writer, director, producer, leading actor and financier of "The Room", a love drama turned unintentional comedy which is considered by many one of the worst films ever made, since it showcases virtually everything than can be done wrong in a movie. According to Wiseau, he put millions of dollars of his own money into this amateurish suckfest, which still somehow looks like a no-budget film with actors that were randomly picked off the street and forced to recite some of the most laughable dialogue ever recorded.

I absolutely recommend that movie over any truther effort, since it is one of the very few movies that actually are so stupid and bad that it's somewhat entertaining and not just stupid and bad like a truther movie. Still, all of them fail for the same reason: people with considerably more passion than talent putting their money into terrible projects that are dear to their heart but would have never been made if someone who knows the first thing about making films of acceptable quality and market appeal would have been involved.

Of course when it turns out that no distributor is interested in their godawful load of crap, truther filmmakers can still try to market it as "the film that is banned from theaters", like they did with "Operation Terror". :D
