"Reality Check" is the podcast for LGBT skeptics and their allies worldwide!

There's a new episode now available on the highly dubious therapy known as "cupping."

Just Google "Reality Check Tony Pitman" to find it. And enjoy!

There's a brand of skepticism bound up with sexual preferences?

Um...

Why?

Marplots, to answer your question: It's because we broadcast on an LGBT radio station (JOY 94.9), so we're trying to bring an understanding of skepticism and critical thinking to an audience outside the "skeptical community." That's why it's a mix of LGBT issues and skepticism!

Forgive me, but it sounds like a very strange mash-up. If you can manage to make it work, good for you. I just don't see a natural overlap between the two so it sounds strained.

You could help me out by suggesting a topic/subject where the two align. I'm happy to be schooled.

Good luck, I hope you can make it work, just be prepared to get flack from all sides if you tread on any sacred cows.

Hi again Marplots!

Actually, there is not much overlap between LGBT issues and skeptical ones, but one area where they do coincide is HIV/AIDS denialism. Another way in which they overlap is that often our "opponents" are the same - the religious right. For that reason, most people within the skeptical community are generally favorable toward LGBT rights issues.

However, as I mentioned previously, the purpose of the show is not really to explore the overlap between the two groups, but rather to bring critical thinking and skeptical ideas to an LGBT audience.

I hope that makes it a little clearer!

It does, thank you.

And thanks for dropping by - I'll check out the podcast and let you know what I think.
