Randi vs Peter Popoff on Inside Edition

Juustin,

There is absolutely no doubt Popoff is a fraud. I think Randi exposed him for what he is.

None the less what the reporter failed to understand was who's door Popoff was trying to close. I've personally slammed someone's fingers in my door while they were trying to keep it open. I think the reporter was lucky. I'm sure he wouldn't have fared too well if he tried to keep me from closing my door.

Extreme swindler or not, people have rights. An excuse to deny someone their rights creates anarchy.

I hope Popoff gets what's coming to him. Also, I liked the journalism technique the reporter uses: See door about to close, wedge yourself into the door, and yell "Ouch! You're squeezing me!" I normally hate when they do stupid tricks like that, but I guess extreme swindlers call for extreme measures.

Apologies for my vagueness. I own that NOVA episode on VHS, and posted that same video above in downloadable form.

I would like to see the Randi-Carson interview about exposing Popoff. Mainly because, as Randi recalled:

When the famous expose of Peter Popoff occurred on his show, conditions had been somewhat changed over those that usually applied. Earlier that afternoon I had met with Fred DeCordova, his director, I had shown him the video footage that we had exposing Popoff's scam, and when Fred said that he would show the video to Johnny, I'd suggested that it might be better to surprise him. "No," Fred had insisted, "Johnny doesn't like surprises." "Well, just think for a moment about the expression he'll have on his face," I told him. That did it. We went on-camera that evening without Johnny knowing the big surprise — that Popoff had a concealed receiver in his ear. John let out an expletive that was dropped out of the tape before it was broadcast later in the evening, and DeCordova had to agree that we'd made the right decision.

Thanks for the YouTube link. But the video I meant, that got withdrawn, you can get when you substitute the M9w7jHYriFo with YMlxx_r4__I in TX50's link (sorry guys, can't post URLs, cause I'm still a "New Blood"). :wide-eyed

Randi wrote in last week's Swift:

Now, this is interesting: though YouTube ran the Inside Edition item immediately after it was broadcast, they withdrew it the very next day, giving as the reason that it had unspecified “inappropriate content”! Inappropriate? Perhaps truth and evidence – when it deals with wealthy scam-artists – is inappropriate?

My question again: Who withdrew it from YouTube, and why?
