In view of rising costs of healthcare and human suffering around the world, I would like to draw and call your attention to the following -

"We are heading for a health-care-'Nuremberg' "

Some people once said " The Earth is Flat " !

EUROPE, The Netherlands, 7 may 2005

Dutch healthcare and politicians are playing ducks and drakes, in conflict with their duty and contrary to dutch constitution, with the tax-payers money by totally ignoring reality. The visitors
claimed healing-miracles performed by famous Dutch psychic-healing-medium Jomanda : "Every sickness can be healed but not every sick person".

Skeptics are (un-aware) Regular-Medicine-Fundamentalists ?

( And we blame the Muslims ?)

EUROPE, The Netherlands, 7 may 2005

By Frank Eeken bc.

[A free-lance writer. Just a concerned citizen. A simple soul]

What the Skeptics are very good at, is criticising others / Alternative-Medicine (AM). A negative attitude, without self-reflection, towards life and reality, with which they bother millions and millions of people. My few E-mails are just a drip in, and compared to, their mass-network-bucket poored in the world's (psychical) ocean. Because the Skeptical words do find a way to mass-media and the positive-results, proof and evidence of AM do not, which strangely enough some 'believe' and seems to be the only difference between so-called scientific-evidence and non-sense. Media-dictatorship in our 'so-called' precious Democracy for which, and out-off, many wars are 'believed' to be fought!

The pre-justice of the Skeptics can be shown in the fact that psychology and psychologists, which are well-represented within the Skeptical-organizations around the world, are widely accepted, used and promoted including their treatments, despite reality that these treatments are not scientific at all. In otherwords "Psychologists using quack, fraudulent methodology bases" (see text below - by retired Lawyer of the High Court and Supreme Court of New South Wales, Australia - Victor Zammit). This attitude and preference, for 'some kind' of fellow-humans who underline the Skeptic-'believe', is in my opinion not at all in line with evolution, human-rights, international standards, goals and reality. The "equalilty-treatment-principle" which is the core of our 'so-called' precious Democracy.

The Skeptics say that AM must show that their treatments are working, healing and curing. Even better, the Skeptics preach, that they have already concluded that AM / the Paranormal is not-working and/or it does not exist, without scientific back-up. And if thousands of AM-visitors and RM-practitioners who researche, proof and practise AM / the Paranormal, even a Lawyer of the High Court and Supreme Court of New South Wales, claim that AM / the paranormal is working, healing and curing, than the Skeptics already know almost certain presumptively that these people are lying, frauds and fools.

From this nonsensical reasoning it is very clear that these few Skeptics compared to mass AM-population, are dogmatic, and maybe even Regular-Medicine-fundamentalistic-all-means-are-allowed, believers who will never change and be brought to different thinking, minds (which they might 'believe' is critical rational thinking, but which I call deny-ignoring-behaviour out of ego, incapability, not-willing or not knowing how to cope with people who think differently. Reality !) by e.g. international scientific evidence or statements from thousands of AM-fellow-humans. It is of no use and a waste of time to produce more AM-evidence, if the present already available AM-evidence is not seen, not heard, ignored of not understood, by these few Skeptics, at the cost of millions of people who could benefit more from AM if a more positive approach, in and out of personal resonsibility and liability, was choosen.

If the Skeptics are in the opinion that there is no solid evidence needed, to show that AM is not-working, as preached, than this discussion is meaningless and redundant, because it is obvious that it is about believe-conviction which cannot be scientificly supported. Naturally the Skeptics can believe what they want, but it is unrealistic to take it ill, blame an AM-population-group or make up all kinds of fantasy names for the AM-practitioners or their messengers, as a result of non-believe of this Skeptical conservative way of thinking. The hearing deaf and seeing blind (for a personal reason). The Passion of the Un-aware ! (of Christ's intentions)

With kind regards and best whishes,

Frank Eeken

(0) Scientific Research Confirms Distant Healing (Cynthia Sue Larson, 8 aug 2000)

(1) "Bernard Grad of the McGill Universiteit in Montreal has done scientific research in the '60 in the area of non-local medicine. Grads results justify the presumption that our emotions have a positive or negative influence on the healingproces and that material, such as water, can transfer these influences. Perhaps because they absorbe the state of mind of people, through a not yet scientificly defined mechanisme"

(2) "Dr. E.Targ, from the medical faculty of the University of Californie and director Psychosociaal Oncological research and H. S. Smith, director of the Geraldine Brush Institute for cancerresearch and colleges of the Pacific Center in San Francisco tried to establish whether healing-intentions (prayer) from distance could have a therapeutical effect in cases of sicknesses as aids, if the patients themself did not know whether they were treated or not, by dubbelblind research. Eventualy there was no difference found in the amount of immunecels (type CD4), but a blind evaluation of all statusses did bring other significant differences to light. The patients whom were treated with non-local-healing had less new significant with aids associated illnesses. The injuries from which they were already suffering were less serious. They visited less frequently there doktor and were less admitted in hospitals and had been laying less days in hospital. Furthermore it showed that the mood of the treated patients were significantly better than those of the patienst in the controle-group".

(3) "Research by Dr. Mitchell W. Krucoff, senior staff Interventional Cardiologist at Duke University Medical Center and director of the Catheterization Laboratory at the Durham VA Medical Center, and doktor-nurse Suzanne Crater, who coordinate a therpapy programme existing of a combination of cadiology, prayer-healing, music, visualization-exersises and hand-laying. Because of an article about this research in Time-Magazine in 1998 it stood on the foreground of public intrest. Krucoff, professor commen medicine and cardiology at the medical faculty of the Duke University and director reseach heart-diseases of the Durham VA Hospital, researched the possible effect of healing-intentions (prayer) on patients whom had heart-surgery. The amount of patients was to limited to draw statistical justified conclusions, but the results were intresting enough to expand the reaseach to 1500 patients".

(4) Larry Dossey, M.D., is executive editor of Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine. He is the author of nine books on the role of consciousness and spirituality in medicine.

"A workingstudent Emily Jaeger was studying in her room, at a moment that many people normaly read their newspaper. Suddenly she had the thought "You are dying". She couldn't do anything with that thought. She was in good health and felt fine. But the tide turned and she couldn't do anything anymore, no more energy, difficulty with breathing and no control of her legs. She started to pray and she kept on going until she felt fine and free again. When she came at the office the next day, het colleges behaved as if they had seen a ghost. They told her, that the previous day they had seen her name in a death-notification in the newspaper. She found out that many people she knew, were in the presumption that de notification was about her. "I realised that I was unawarely been paralized by the thoughts of the people who had assumed that I was the woman who's name was in the notification". Her worldly view left enough space for non-local phenomenon If she had gone to a regular doktor who had no knowledge of healing-intentions and had complained about lack of energy, breathing difficulty and unable to move her legs, she would have surely been sent to a psychiatrist or have been prescribed medication 'to get herself under controle'."

Dossey has a web page that describes some of the recent medical studies that have been strongly indicating that distant healing is definitely taking place when people are prayed for.

(5) Larry Dossey, where Epoch-I = the fysical orientated approach:

"I have come to the conclusion that the essential ingredient is 'love'. A condition of compasion which is so authentic and so deep that is goes through all barrieres that we pull up around us. In a hospital I presented evidence, from many controlled scientific experiments to show that there is a clear link between the non-local Epoch-III-applications (healingintentions, prayer) and positive results in healthcare. How does a hospital justify, beside all the high-tech possibilities, to not let patients have access to the applications offered by Epoch-II (after WorldWarII, hypnoses, visualisation, relaxation and the enormous signification of psychological factors on diseases and health) and Epoch-III . Is it ethical responsible to let out the efforts of which the value is clearly shown ? Howlong must we wait ? "

(6) "One of the most ambitious research talked about at the Harvard-meetings, was a longterm experiment under supervision of dr. Herbert Benson of the Mind Body medical Institute of the New England Deaconess Hospital in Boston. Benson enjoys a reputation in U.S.A. cause of his research on local-effects of meditation and prayer. He is researching the possible non-local-effects. His research surrounded 1200 patients, which had a bypass-operation. Only the fact that under the auspicien of 'Harvard-research', reeearch was done on the effects of non-local-healing, says it all. The fact that this kind of research presently is being carried out at top-institutions, under controle of respected scientists, has contributed many in the United States of taking away the psychological and scientific resistance against it ".

(7) "It is not been noticied but the American government had financed research between 1973 and 1989 and lateron between 1992 and 1994 to research the possibilities to acquire information through 'mental' way of far away objects or even future events. On request of the American Congres the American professor statistics, dr.Jessica Utts of the University of Californie, carefully examined the research in 1996. Her conclusion was that, in light of the demands handled by current science, the existence of these phenomenon may be accounted for as proven. Maybe, says Utts, we can imagine it as a sixth sense, as our known senses reacts on changes. 'A sort of phsychic sense that is scanning the future on important changes, as our eyes are focussed on changes in our view and our ears on sudden change in sound'. According to Utts, is is a waste of time, to continue this kind of reaearch, if it is only meant to find even more evidence. 'There is few expectations of continuesly handing over evidence, for those who are not willing to accept the presently available data'."

Psychologists using quack, fraudulent methodology

Psychologists do not understand (ie, are ignorant) what technically constitutes admissible evidence. They tend to confuse psi elicited admissible evidence with 'anecdotal' evidence. For your appendix see your surgeon. For crime see a cop. For evidence you see a lawyer.

Enemies of the PSI empiricism:

Published in PSYCHIC WORLD Jan 2002

Psychology & the closed minded psychologists

By Victor Zammit - empirical psychic investigator,

Lawyer of the High Court and Supreme Court of New South Wales, Australia (retired).

So, some negatively minded psychologists are trying to willfully denigrate empirical psi claiming psi is 'not scientific'? There is a noticeable consistent activity within some psychology departments to unfairly and unreasonably attack empirical psychic phenomena. It is on record that there are those anti-psychic crusader psychologists, who, for career promotion or other selfish motives, have used illegitimate means to try to undermine the acceptance of empirical objective evidence of psychic phenomena (psi).

In response to the continuous provocations from these few closed minded skeptic materialist psychologists in leadership positions, the time has come to have a very close look at the validity of traditional university psychology. A stand has to be taken against the unreasonableness of these closed-minded psychologists who deceitfully and knowingly are not using the same tests of validity they use for their own psychology experiments.

They come across as prosecutors in their psychic investigations using a presumption of fraud, and seem determined that the objective evidence for psychic phenomena must not be accepted. Psychology fought very hard to establish itself as pseudo-science and is in a really precarious position - it could disappear as a discipline. It is no wonder that some psychologists are fighting hard publicly to denounce, reject, refute even trying to ridicule psychic phenomena - something they do not want to understand yet something which is threatening the very existence of traditional psychology. There have been dramatic empirical psi positive findings by some of the most brilliant men and women who ever walked this planet earth- eg Dr Dean Radin, Prof Gary Schwartz and many physicists, psychiatrists, MD's and so many others.

By and large, in Western universities judging by the contemporary American textbooks, the core subjects for psychology are generally similar: classical works about personality, neuroscience, perception, learning, introspective concepts etc with emphasis on comparative theories. In practical work, the laboratory research usually entails duplicating Pavlov, Skinner's schedules of reinforcement and other experiments.

Why are psychology departments most hostile to psychic phenomena? This is probably because scientific findings in psychic phenomena will fundamentally invalidate the whole known field of psychology particularly Freud, Jungian, Behaviourism and other theories of learning perceived to be 'untouchable' and which are all mostly unscientific. Most of psychology will have to be re-learned when successful scientific psychic experiments conducted privately inevitably become also accepted at universities.

The discovery of non-physical energy-force will inevitably revolutionise traditional science and will make nugatory most of existing 'knowledge' in psychology.

Psychology itself is not a pedigree subject. It is a conglomerate made up from bits and pieces psychology 'stole' from different disciplines including physics, medicine, biology, physiology, neurology, philosophy, statistics, physical science, scientific methodology, hypnosis, sociology, anthropology and religion – see below. Without these said collective disciplines there is no psychology at universities.

Society knows, psychologists and psychics know too that traditional psychology has come to a dead end. A large number of psychologists who have accepted psychic/spiritual phenomena have decided to break away from the mainstream psychology and formed Transpersonal Psychology - which allows for the laws of psychic – non-physical energy - and spiritual experience to complement traditional psychology. It also allows the promotion of spiritual therapies, ecology, philosophy and the arts and sciences. Their future is guaranteed as inevitably the psychic/spiritual laws will one day become dominant at universities.

Two reasons why materialist psychology continues to dominate universities are because it does not contradict existing materialist knowledge and it denies spirituality.

At universities during a psychology lecture on operant conditioning psychology students are told that love is nothing more than just massive continuous positive reinforcement - a rather materialistic, reductionist, mechanistic erroneous view of the most important and powerful force known in the universe.

Secondly, psychology promotes materialism - as distinct from fulfilling a function which psychology was originally created: to assist society in its enormous social and other problems - all these problems, suicide, drug addiction, alcoholism, crime, depression, have been getting worse since psychology became a formal discipline. In ALL these aforementioned phenomena psychology – because psychology is NOT scientific -miserably has very sadly failed.

Psychologists using quack, fraudulent methodology

A self confessed anti-psychic who was a leading British Professor (of Psychology) belonged to a group which allegedly 'scientifically' examined psychic phenomena - the Committee for the Scientific Investigation of Claims of the Paranormal (CSICOP) in the 70's.

This anti-psychic Professor of Psychology tried to denigrate and destroy the high credibility of the Professor J.B. Rhine's, ESP Pratt-Pearce experiments when experts hostile to the psychic phenomena in the U.S. were satisfied with the scientific method used by Dr Rhine and never raised the issue of fraud.

Using verbal sleight of hand - without having examined the ESP experiments, without using scientific method, without objectivity whatsoever, without a shred of evidence - this professor stated that, 'since ESP is not possible, fraud must have taken place.'!

This kind of quack 'psychology method' being used by some materialist closed minded psychologists shows how the "impossible-to-pass test" being used on psychic phenomena was not being used to test 'established' principles psychologists swear by.

On the other hand psychologists are using a lower threshold of proof. It is known that psychologists have used principles on to the public if their experimental results yielded a probability of one in twenty of it being right. Perhaps this accounts for the delay - sometimes years - before patients experience some cure.

One has to keep in mind that science does NOT support the validity of applied psychological principles being used on humans even to-day.

In a court session, if this Professor of Psychology tried to argue the way he did he would indubitably be told by a senior judge something like:

"But Professor, this is not a kindergarten debate here. The rules of evidence are very clear. The rules of evidence will not permit you to enter into evidence personal opinion unless they were substantiated by some independent or objective means ... "

Another most memorable highly unfairly and negatively prejudicial statement made by closed minded Professor of Psychology at Harvard, Hugo Muenstenberg, set the policy for materialist psychology. When he went to see Edgar Cayce, one of the greatest psychics not only the United States, but this world has ever seen, he announced: "Edgar Cayce, I came here to expose you."

BEFORE he had done any investigations, he had publicly stated that he did not believe in communication between intelligences from the afterlife violating every rule in scientific method, "... it does not exist and will not exist." Would you call this Professor of psychology a 'scientist'? Of course not – no wonder, scientists deny psychology is a 'science.'!

What is most unfair, unreasonable and most cowardly is that these kinds of illogical and unscientific psychologists are in Britain given free reign on television, radio and newspapers but no reasonable time is given to the empirical psi researchers to the articulate their argument. In Australia and the USA the argument appears to be more balanced.

As a matter of fact, privately funded programs are being shown on television demonstrating psychic phenomena by highly gifted psychics such as John Edward where some of his 'hits' show that the mathematical probability of the information being obtained by chance has been calculated by statisticians to be 1 in 3 trillions. Translated, this means that the information being obtained by this gifted psychic has to come from where this medium states it is coming from - the afterlife!

A critical issue is also that at universities the negative attitude of presumption of invalidity is not being applied to psychology itself. If the universities did, there would be very little pure psychology around - if any.

Psychology is NOT scientific

Borrowing a page from the aggressive techniques used by those closed-minded materialist psychologists and other skeptics who are using psychology or "parapsychology" to try to belittle, denigrate and ridicule psychic phenomena this is how psychics and society ought to see psychology. The gist of the argument is that psychology in the strictest terms is NOT scientific!

Just some problems of psychology:

• All introspective psychology including Freudian and Jungian is totally one hundred percent UNSCIENTIFIC. This is already 50% of psychology.

• The UNSIENTIFIC 'process' of psychoanalysis has shown itself to be unreliable, highly expensive, ineffective and irrelevant to health even after years of treatment.

• Psychology has not been able to develop a reliable cure for depression - in many instances, psychotherapy has deepened depression – because psychology is NOT scientific.

• Psychiatry using psychological techniques has failed to guarantee mental health.

• Psychiatry has now virtually dumped psychology and switched to drug therapy.

• The psychological technique of Razran (aversion therapy) was a complete disaster maiming many patients – was totally UNSCIENTIFIC.

• Shock therapy by psychologists is still being used notwithstanding its treatment is harmful, inefficient and ineffective – and unscientific.

• Psychotherapy in many instances has prolonged the patient's problems.

• Applied Skinnerian Schedules of Reinforcement failed miserably in the U.S Army war machine and in psychiatric hospitals.

• Psychological principles of incentives proved irrelevant in psychiatric hospitals - bordering on quackery where some patients become more depressed.

• Behaviourism has shown to be effective in dealing with laboratory rats but has not convincingly transferred to human behaviour.

• Most of classical and operant conditioning have shown to be marginal if at all relevant.

• Brain functioning experiments are the strict jurisdiction of biologists, and physiologists. Psychologists 'stole' the brain functioning from biology.

• Medical science has shown that psychology is fundamentally incorrect in assuming that the mind and the brain are one - huge parts of the brain have been removed and patients can still perform efficient cognitive and manual functions.

• Psychologists are doing the work of sociologists in social experiments.

• Cheating and fraud have been discovered in psychology eg. in the famous twin studies.

• The courts have accepted that psychology is not objective (scientific) because the courts allowed for multiple interpretations of the same event. If psychology were scientific there would be only ONE interpretation.

• Psychology has failed to effect fundamental behavioural changes in prisons – inmates perceiving it as 'quackery.'

The latest craze in psychology – phenomenology is 100% subjective, ie NOT SCIENTIFIC – it would be a waste of time, money and energy – AND CHEATING to call phenomenology 'scientific!'

• Stripped from all its encroached disciplines - medicine, physics, physical science etc, what left in psychology is nothing but formalised 'common sense.'

• Biological desensitisation in psychology is a steal from pure Buddhist meditation.

• Psychology has failed to effect solutions to modify human behaviour on a big picture scale - the way other disciplines have. Psychology has failed to reduce the huge problems in society of suicides (around 40 to 50,000 a year in the U.S.), alcohol addiction, drugs, crime and other serious problems of growing alienation. All these problems are on the increase – if psychology were a science the world would get positive results – not continuous exacerbation of these problems!

Consistently, closed minded skeptic psychologists do not take into account their own intrinsic negativity as a negative intervening variable which inevitably distorts their results when they try to investigate psychic phenomena. This has now been empirically validated – see 'the Experimenter Effect'. Psychology has had more than generous funding considering it has not produced results and considering psychology has come to a dead-end. There have been no major breakthroughs in psychology in the last 20 years! Psychology in fact has come to a dead end! The time has come for the government, all politicians, bureaucracy and the taxpayers to review the cost / benefit of further funding to psychology, Psychology has been changed to actively promote materialism as distinct from fulfilling the original function it was created for: to reduce the huge problems of society,

In context of the above, the submission is that the time has come for the taxpayers to look very closely into the merits and demerits of psychology and to fund any projects in psychology contingent on proven results. Funding to psychology ought to be halved to allow the creation of departments of psychic research from those who are non-materialistically competent and genuine who can bring about the knowledge to revolutionise learning - a new learning in all disciplines which WILL inexorably come about anyway.

One would have to be living in a vacuum not to notice that the leadership of the psychic community and the spiritualist organisations do not have the confidence in those crusading academic skeptic psychologists females and males who have been funded by the strong anti-paranormal organisations on the heinous and deceitful pretence that they are conducting psychic experiments impartially.

The good news is that empirical psi is gaining acceptance by the 'new science' – and it only when the non material energy-force is given more funding that the revolution in science will really commence. Psychology as abovestated, will undergo fundamental changes and will almost certain join Transpersonal Psychology.

Irrefutable Objective Evidence

-- by Victor Zammit

http://www.victorzammit.com/book/index.html

============================================

Dear Mr. Eeken,

Perhaps you would be interested in some additional evidence supporting the legitimacy of the phenomena described in "We're heading for Health-Care-'Nuremberg." For over a quarter of a century the Princeton Engineering Anomalies Research (PEAR) laboratory at Princeton University has been studying the effects of human intention and emotional resonance on the behavior of random physical processes. We have amassed an immense body of empirical evidence that indicates that effects such as those you describe are empirically demonstrable under controlled laboratory conditions. While we have not specifically addressed such effects on health-related processes, these data have important implications for living systems as well.

You can access details of our various experiments in anomalous human/machine interactions and precognitive remote perception, as well as several conceptual models that attempt to accommodate these phenomena within a scholarly framework, in more than two dozen papers that can be downloaded from the Publications page of our website < http://www.princeton.edu/~pear/ >.

In particular, I would draw your attention to the article entitled " Information, Consciousness, and Health," - http://www.princeton.edu/~pear/JahnATpages.pdf which appeared in Alternative Therapies, 2, No. 3, pp. 32-38, 1996, and a more recent theoretical paper entitled "A Modular Model of Mind/Matter Manifestations (M5)," http://www.princeton.edu/~pear/m5.pdf which was published in the Journal of Scientific Exploration, 15, No. 3, pp. 299-329, 2001.

The collective scientific evidence supporting phenomena such as those demonstrated by Jomanda and others is sufficiently robust that the term "paranormal" is now inappropriate. Only when we ourselves accept them as "normal" will we succeed in communicating their relevance to others who are more skeptical.

Keep up the good work.

With best wishes,

Brenda Dunne

PEAR Laboratory Manager

=============================================

Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA. May 8th, 2005

Ms. Dunne:

I’ve recently been forwarded several copies of a statement from you that says you have “an immense body of empirical evidence” obtained “under controlled laboratory conditions” to prove the existence of certain paranormal events. That’s very interesting, indeed. You have also suggested that this evidence is “sufficiently robust that the term ‘paranormal’ is now inappropriate.” That being so, it would appear that the PEAR is prepared to establish this in a set of tests that would try for the JREF million-dollar prize.

(You will forgive me for continuing to use the term, “paranormal” since I do not – yet – share your conviction concerning the matter. However, I am more than willing to be shown my error in that respect.

I am asking you if you are interested in the possibility of taking the JREF prize. Of course, if academic restrictions, or any other impediments, exist that would bar you from taking the prize personally or as a group, I will suggest – as I always do – that you might wish to win the prize and donate it to any charity or worthwhile cause of your choosing.

Please read our standard offer at www.randi.org/research/index.html. As I’m sure you know, we are always willing to establish – with your help – a proper protocol that would test the existence of any paranormal event, ability, or power of any kind – your choice. Your extensive lab experience in designing and carrying out scientific tests of paranormal claims would be most useful in facilitating the implementation of a set of tests, and you doubtless already have on hand an appropriate protocol that could be put into action.

As you will find when reading the rules concerning the JREF challenge, we do not accept prior accounts of success, and require original tests under a protocol arrived at with the co-operation of all concerned, and with the input of experienced and capable scientists such as yourself. This requirement reflects the fact that this is an offer of one million dollars, not merely a casual inquiry, and we therefore feel that only original experiments should qualify in this regard.

I am sure that the PEAR lab will not choose to respond with the tired canards which amateurs use: “There is no prize money,” “Randi is the sole judge,” and “The JREF cheats” are commonly heard. Reference to www.randi.org/research/faq.html and www.randi.org/research/faq.html#randi should assuage any such doubts.

I look forward to hearing back from you, and I stand ready to answer any and all questions you may have. Thank you for reading and considering this message.

Sincerely, James Randi

I predict you will no response.

The people behind PEAR know that they don't have anything:

However, their most recent paper, which is the subject of this critique, is the latest in their responses to the above criticisms. And deep within that PEAR paper, right after the final and most searching analysis results were posted, is the following admission that the results simply did not appear:

"Once again, there was reasonably good agreement among the six scoring recipes, but the overall results were now completely indistinguishable from chance."

I predict - sans psychic powers - that there will indeed be a response. I further predict that response will be "No", with either the excuse that they don't want to sully their hands with a sideshow, or they'll cite some kind of JREF reputation issue.

Side-bets, anyone? :D

An idea...

I suggest that we fund the royalty fee....

How about every time, Randi references the FAQ, one of us sends Beleth a CD from her Amazon.com wish list?

She'd have to keep the wish list up to date.

I volunteer for first, eleventh, twenty-first, ... to 101st.

Heck, even without any other volunteers at least it's something tangible for her!

I fear she'd argue that she did it just for the education, not the reward. Let's head off that agrument with a continuing cry of "Come on. You deserve it!"

Kind thoughts,
Gulliver

That is quite probably the nicest thing anyone on the Net has ever proposed to do for me!

All I really want, and all I believe I deserve, is a mention as the original creator of the FAQ somewhere on the FAQ itself. So instead of sending me a CD, please send Randi an e-mail...

Done, swiftly and gladly.

Would more of us please send a similar email please?

Ditto. Honestly, that's bothered me since day one...

Yeah, me three, especially since I lambasted her about it and questioned the need of the FAQ to begin with.

Beleth, how about a CD of "Peter and the Wolf"?
I happen to know there will be a few extra copies available (some are maybe even improved versions, with more resonance and air, courtesy of GSIC and LostAngeles).

Interested? :)

I just want to point out, since I just noticed it myself, that this has indeed been done!

Thank you everyone that thought this was justified, thank you KRAMER, and thank you Randi!

And thank you, Mr. Randi and Kramer, for listening to our requests once again!

Nobody ever said the world is flat

It's common to claim that people once thought that the world is flat, or that the common understanding at the time of Columbus was that the world is flat, or that it was Church teaching. But it's not true. The general shape and size of Earth has been well known for 2000 years. Columbus was criticized since he thought the diameter of the Earth is half of what it is, and the Church thought that it was just about what it actually is.
