Quo Vadis, Appeasers?

Look, the Bush supporters here have made it clear that they don't even want to admit that non-Bush-voting states are part of the country.

I have a simple solution, just annex them over to Canada.

Then we'll see which is the moral part, which is the financially able part, which is the productive part ...

It's a thoroughly silly suggestion, exposing ignorance and bigotry on the part of those who believe they can characterize entire sections of the country while knowing very little about them.

The sort of thinking that says one part of the country is X, Y, and Z is the same sort of thinking that says people of a particular race are X, Y, and Z.

People shouldn't think in stereotypes. It's foolish as well as counterproductive. The sort of thing people do in France.

Well, I agree with the first two sentences. I'm not so sure about the third.

Obviously. And obviously a reaction to Patrick's stupid characterization.
Take one of America's biggest industries, aerospace technology and manufacturing. Where is this stuff located? New York? California? Massachussetts? Nope. It's Kansas.
New York, California, and Massachussetts are going to be pretty surprised that their aerospace industries have dissappeared!
Let's try to get past stereotypes, shall we? I'll stop assuming all people from Massachussetts are like Frasier Crane, and you stop assuming that all people from Oklahoma are like the Beverly Hillbillies.
And why don't you stop assuming that you know what I think of any of these people, or whether my opinions are based on experience or stereotype. I understand the reality of American diversity. It's not like Kerry got 80% in his states, and Bush 80% in his.

Just for fun, though:

Kerry states with median income above national average: 16 of 18
Bush states with median income above national average: 9 of 32

Yeah. And for something located in Kansas, a lot of people here in Georgia seem to work at a non-existant Lockheed plant...

I hadn't realized that suggesting a large amount of the aerospace field in one place necessarily implied there wasn't any anywhere else.

Well, yeah, that's my point. Patrick's attitude, and some others' as well, seems to be on the order of "woo hoo, who needs them".

I am sure it's only a matter of time before that becomes "whoo hooo, let's bleed them dry".

So if they don't need us, fine, let's just get Canada to annex the lot of us. They're all contiguous, well, except whatever happened in Hawaii (I don't even know what that was, by the way.)

If that's how they feel, fine, we can reach an amicable settlement, so why not?

You really do want to rid the country of anyone who supports freedom,

Bush is the one who overturned Saddam and is desperately trying to establish democracy in iraq, and you, an appeaser, dare to lecture me about freedom?? George Orwell is spinning in his grave!

Once again, Patrick, I call on you to retract your baseless lie that I'm an appeaser.

I demand that you retract it.

Stop lying about your betters.

Yeah, and that big plant in Mukleteo, or the one down in Renton, lots of people still work there, despite the best attempts of a whole bunch of people, too.

Maybe you can move to France? :) A number of liberals threatened to do so if Bush was elected in 2000 - one actually did! Pierre Salinger, who as a young man was press secretary for John Kennedy, moved to Provence and opened a B and B.

Salomger, who died BTW, lived there most of his life. He was a jourmalist.

Tell you what, circuit slave, it's the liberals, the ones who have an education, who do science, etc, that keep this country running.

Priceless.

And yet you wonder why "the common folk" voted presumptiuous, pompous a-holes of your ilk out of office.

Very well, then why don't you let us all seceed from the USA and join Canada. Just split the country into the two colors, and give the blues to Canada.

You don't want us, give us all away.

You can't want us, given your arrogant, antagonistic response.

Me arrogant?

You just implied that anyone who's not a Liberal is uneducated.

Christ, where is this crap coming from? Bizarro Atlas Shrugged? Please move. The rest of us educated (about to go for my MBA, then Law School, thanks), hard-working people who don't appreciate the notion that we should somehow shoulder more of a burden than those less capable of succeeding, will be just fine without you.

Yet I'm arrogant and antagonistic.

Pot, meet Kettle.

I think you are confused about the meaning of education.

Science means man and nature.
Everything man does in science is validated or not by the nature.
This is education about truths.

Law School means man and society.
Everything man does as a lawyer is validated or not by the society.
Lawyers are tainted by navigating in the society, they don't care about truths.
I was told that a lawyer's comment "The truth doesn't matter. What matters is the law." -made when he was fighting a paternity suit-, defines a good lawyer all the time.

The posts above, that speak about where the wealth comes from in the US, have in common the pointing out of the industry of making goods.
These goods are generated by science and technology.
Lawyers distribute this wealth in order for them to navigate in the society, but don't build it.
The US Department of Labor imports foreigners who are skilled workers in science, because there aren't enough US people who are scientifically educated.

The conclusion about the meaning of education, is:

.) scientists are educated to make goods from nature;

.) lawyers and bankers are trained -not educated- to be social parasites.

So, you Phrost, you are trained, but you are not educated.

A lie, suborned from an exercise of the excluded middle.

Just like I'd expect from you.

I didn't say that. I said something else. Now take responsibility for your own misrepresentation.

I require your full retraction.

YAAAAAAAAA HAAAAAAAA HAAAAA!! STOP IT, YOU'RE KILLING ME! BLAAAAH HOOO HEEE HAAA HAAA

Are there more people like you in your country?

Why don't you learn something about the country, hockey puck, before you open your mouth? To learn something, you have to read other than commentary/news authored in euroweenieland, which would most likely be a brave new experience for most euroweenies, but have courage.

Can you spot the differenece between:

...it's the liberals, the ones who have an education, who do science,...

and:

"...it's the liberals, the only ones who have an education, who do science,..."?

Because you confuse the quote from jj with the second statement...
