Merged "Pull It" (Stop yawning people!)

Good question. Dont know, but it got me thinking why would you say "pull it" if you wanted people to evacuate?

When you are referring to more than any one group of people and more than simply people themselves, but a whole effort comprised of different groups, departments, equipment, victims, rescue efforts, firefighting efforts, etc etc.

It is much simpler to use than a long long sentence to include every facet of an operation.

No one ran, from JOSH HAMILITON "pulling it", as he slammed it to the short right porch, and way beyond! RANGERS BASEBALL, best hitting, worst team in baseball EVER!

That's far from an original thread on the subject. However it may be in the first 1000 threads on the term "pull it". The fact that Larry even clarified what he meant later on should end the whole discussion. But this thread is simply looking at it from the other direction.

I am well aware that the linked thread was far from original; that's my point. Are there any more possible directions that we can look at "pull it" from? Every time this subject is brought up it is pulled apart from every conceivable angle.

The truther claims over demolition slang and "pull it" are a non-sequitur for two reasons.

1) Firefighters are not a CD crew, so whether "pull it" is CD crew slang is moot.

2) Silverstein's claim can be interpreted in two ways. One requires the invocation of an Impossibly Vast Conspiracy involving thousands, possibly millions of people, which contains enough internal contradictions to fill a bible. The other doesn't. A guy called Ockham had some ideas about this - apparently whilst he was shaving.

1. Larry could have recalled incorrectly for that interview, what he actually said that day.
2. If he did, on 9/11 actually say "pull it", he could have been referring to the operation surrounding WTC7.

It's pretty simple really. If you think that him saying pull it means he was calling for a controlled demolition, then you are accusing the FDNY of carrying out the attacks on themselves.

Here is my logical guestimate of what the conversation might have included:

Larry: Larry Silverstein here.

Chief: Ya, this is Chief Nigro.

Larry: Ya Dan, whats the latest?

Chief: Well it isn't looking good Mr. Silverstein. We still can't get any water pressure up there. I don't think we can contain this thing, and I think we are going to have discontinue the operation around WTC7.

Larry: You know we have had such terrible loss of life, maybe the smartest thing to do is pull it.

Chief: I am sorry we have to do this sir, but the safety of my men is paramount.

I was just watching a progam on MSNBC "Caught on Camera: On the Edge of Death." One of those shows with dramatic footage of life or death situations. They were showing footage of a fire in Fort Wayne, Indiana at a factory that produces (or uses I missed that part) Magnesium powder. You can't use water to extinguish such fires and the FD didn't have enough of the powder needed to put it out. As Fire Fighter Larry Fischer put it "We decided to pull back." Meaning that they were going to get the fire fighters away from the area. This building didn't need anyone's help to blow up.

While not the exact wording it is interesting that a FD a quarter of the way across the country would use the word "pull" to mean get out of the area.
