thats how the iraqi justice system works, they tried him for one crime, after he was found guilty he could appeal, which he did, the appeal was rejected, at that time they have 30 days to carry out the sentence
if he was found innocent on appeal then they move to the next crime
there is talk of trying him posthumously for other crimes, not sure how that is goign to work, but i guess it will give closure

I forgot that Iraq has a different justice system. It sucks in my opinion.
