The offensive portion of the proposed legislation is this:

Property owners throughout the state would have a right to establish a 5-by-5-foot plot of cannabis plants for personal consumption - a right that could not be usurped by local ordinance.

I agree, sarge, that the law has some undesirable elements that, should it pass, will need to be sorted out by future legislation.

Nah, it's a much fruitier odour. Anyone who knows it knows it instantly, but those who don't will often have a quizzical look on their face like... "Is that what I think it might be? Nahhh, ehhhh... maybe?"

It's not unpleasant, but that's a personal judgement.

Here's another question: How much does that nefarious weed grow on its own? I don't want to have to keep pulling pot plants out of my yard because of stray, wind-blown seeds.

Not a problem, growers weed out male plants before they pollinate so that their product doesn't develop seed and lose potency, only the females are allowed to bloom to full maturity.

Savvy growers will use vegetative propagation.

Was reading this morning that Democrats are watching California's prop 19. The idea is that campaigning nationally to legalize pot in 2012 might energize the youth vote.
