There's been a trend recently of fundagelicals converting catlick because their pastors are no longer hardline enough. What they all forget though is that they're not moving from one SBC church to another. They're joining a whole congregation of churches who have a clear demarcation of power structures and hierarchies to whom they'll never be more than a statistic.

Oh, and if anybody thinks that Bowman/Vance didn't go straight from SBC to catlick, I've the title to a bridge in Manhattan I'm interested in selling.

The rules of Monopoly I was always taught is you can't collect money if you're in jail. That's part of the punishment of being in jail.

Even though you are in Jail, you may buy and sell property, buy and sell houses and hotels and collect rents.

The only order I saw mention in relation to Vance was the Dominicans. He was apparently converted by a couple of Dominican Friars and goes to church at their church.

It is a house rule.The actual prined rules allow you to collect rents when in Jail.
One of the things about Monopoly ios the number of house rules that have sprung up. ANother biggie if that the fines and taxes are put under the free Parkng space, and whoever lands on that space gets the money.
And most of these house rules have a negative impact in that they prolong the game. A game of Monopoly, when played strictly by the printed rules, last arond 90 Minuts to a hour. It is when the house rules are used you have the extremly long games thea turn it into "Monotony".
Almost all of the house rules keep money in cirulation, which prolonges the game.Players can stay in the game longer without going bankrupt and the game ends when all but one Player goes bankrupt.

It's a capitalist's game based on their reality - do you really think they'd set the rules so they can't collect money if they happen to be in jail?

Why do you think there are get-out-of-jail-free cards? In the original rules these were given to any player that was rich, male and white, much like the real world.

My wife used to play that rule. It was new to me, and I hated it.

Because most people realize that the more you keep money in circulation among the most people, the more they all benefit. When you have rules that are emant to funnel all the money to a select few who go lucky early, you make the game short and bitter for everyone but that last player.
