Hi Brian!

I discovered your podcast recently on iTunes (I had already been a member of this forum). I just wanted to say that I find them very enjoyable. Your podcast on "organic" foods was especially informative to me, because it's a bit more mainstream than much of the paranormal claptrap. Prior to that I hadn't given the subject much critical thought. I'm sure there are lots of people who think of themselves as rational and who don't believe in silliness like "psychics" who nonetheless think organic foods are better for health and the environment.

I have a request, if you think it a worthy topic:
Walmart

Is it an evil monopoly destroying small-town America, limiting our choices, censoring, preventing people from getting needed prescription meds, and selling us out to the Chinese? I'm curious about your thoughts.

Here, in video format is a humorous argument against Walmart.
Wal-Mart Watch is a more serious approach.
Wal-Mart Watch is a nationwide campaign to reveal the harmful impact of walmart on american families and demand reform of their business practices.

Thanks

I think that would make a very interseting topic! It is a matter of huge debate here just outside of Syracuse, NY. If you couldn't guess, WalMart is attemting to build a Super WalMart ... its going on 4 years now and the debate is still has hot as ever.

Anyone know of any decent, free podcasts that are really worth listening to? I had just found Penn's radio show and loved it, then it went off the air. The Skeptic's Guide to the Universe is also very enjoyable, but only updated once a week. Brain Food is fascinating, but not updated lately (haven't listend to them all yet).

I'm more interested in shows that are 30 minutes or longer, rather than sound bites.

Some of my favorites:
The Diane Rehm Show (weekly news roundup)
NPR Shuffle
This American Life
The Slate Daily podcast (although this isn't usually that long.)

I'm not sure what angle you're suggesting on the Wal-Mart idea. I don't think there's any disagreement with the general fact that when one store wins, its competitors lose - and that effect trickles through both the supply and the employment chains. Are you suggesting that this popular impression of Wal-Mart is not correct?
