As if to prove my point:WildCat said:Here's something else for you to consider: The labor unions in this country don't give a damn about the economy as a whole. Their sole interest is protecting union jobs to preserve the influence and power of the labor unions. If the whole country went to hell in a handbasket they wouldn't care as long as the union jobs remained.
Also:The Chicago Federation of Labor is vowing to wage a rare zoning fight on the City Council floor this week to block Wal-Mart's ''sneak attack'' entry into the Chicago market -- at a South Side shopping mall.
Aldermen whose constituents stood to gain from the stores defended Wal-Mart and said the council should uphold its tradition of deferring to the aldermen about what goes in their wards.
"I'm not in your business, so don't get in my business in my ward," said Ald. Emma Mitts of the West Side 37th Ward. "If they don't want a Wal-Mart, fine, I do. I have kids in my neighborhood telling me, 'I need a job.' I can get opportunities for them. I started out working in a grocery store. It helped me."
If the unions can't get the jobs, nobody should get a job. Better to have no joibs. Disgusting.
