Saying Angela Merkel had a great year seems a lot like saying Mitt Romney has outclassed his competition for the presidential nomination, when most of the things both did was not screw things up as bad as the people or countries around them.

I urge you to witness an Angela Merkel speech in person. Seriously, give it a try.
