Penn & Teller question

Does anyone know if Penn & Teller will either perform or have some kind of presentation to give during Tam9? We're wondering if we should go to see them perform at the Rio, or will we see them at Tam9? I have a schedule of events and don't see them listed, but their names are on the main page.

That's a good question actually... they were listed under the 'Skepticism on TV' panel, but I no longer see them there. It would seem they're still reworking the schedule. Penn's party is Friday night, so you would be able to see him there. As far as I know Teller isn't going to be involved too much in that though.

However, it is definitely worth checking out the full show at the Rio either way. We have group trips planned on Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday night. Here's a link to the thread for that:

You should definitely go see their show at the Rio if you can. It is nothing like you'll see at TAM. I enjoyed it very much a couple of years ago.

If you want to see them perform, definitely go see them at the Rio. Wear your TAM shirt when you go, so you can get a picture with them at the meet-and-greet they do in the lobby after the show. Oh, and bring your camera too - the first time I went, I assumed they wouldn't let cameras in the theater, and was sorely disappointed when I found out I was wrong.

Penn & Teller's show is absolutely worth seeing. I've seen it many times (although it's been 10 years, since last time they performed in Boston), and we have tickets for their Sunday show of TAM weekend.

I've always been impressed by their post-show lobby meet & greet -- they will hang around and for photos & autographs with everyone who wants them -- very generous with their time and their fans.

I think we need to attempt to lure P&T away to have pie and ice cream with the TAM attendees Sunday night.

They never performed much of anything at previous TAMs. Chances are they won't perform much, if anything, at this one.

But, in the unlikely event they do perform some substantial tricks of some sort, chances are even more remote that it will be anything near a full show's worth.

So, see their show at the Rio. It is, afterall, a good one.

As in, you can take cameras into the theatre, during the show? When I saw them in London it was strictly no cameras at all, except for outside afterwards for the meets obviously.

I'm also thinking that all the TAM people there on Sunday need to do a mini-Forum group picture with them.

We've done it before, and P&T were OK with us waiting until everyone else had left so we could get the two of them in a picture together.

If we plan on convincing them to go for pie, we'd have to wait until the non-TAM types leave anyhow.

Was it pie, or ice cream?

Where can we get good pie in Vegas?

Newbie.

They gave a short performance at TAM 2 (or was it 3?). The auctioned off the sheet they "cut in half", and I believe Brown was the winning bidder.

At TAM 4 & 5, they both made appearances, but no magic. However both P&T can do astonishing autographs if you offer them the gideon bible found conveniently in your hotel room...

I also second this. I've seen Penn & Teller 10 or 12 times live, and they are always great. If you like jazz, be sure to show up at the Rio about an hour before showtime to see Mike Jones & Penn play the pre-show music.

Even if you've seen them before, they add new tricks to the show on a regular basis, so the show is always different. Unless you see them three times in a month, you're going to see new stuff. Currently, there's a new trick involving helium that I had the extreme fortune to see the very first public performance of at the Rio last August 19 when I was in Vegas for work.
