Merged Peace President invades Venezuela,/U.S. Forces Capture Maduro

Obama's push for petroleum independence through domestic overproduction instead of increased efficiency has become a good in itself: the US has a make oil, even if no one wants it.

Only legitimate if the US says so

The United States continues to enforce the blockade against all dark fleet vessels illegally transporting Venezuelan oil to finance illicit activity, stealing from the Venezuelan people. Only legitimate and lawful energy commerce—as determined by the U.S.—will be permitted.

"Stealing from the Venezuelan people"?

If we've gone from a situation where Venezuelan crooks were pocketing the profits from selling the nations oil to a situation where Venezuelan crooks and US oil companies are splitting the cash and both pocketing the profits from selling the nation's oil, how does that help the Venezuelan people?

There was never any intention of helping the Venezuelan people. (Nor, for that matter, does it benefit the large majority of American people in any way). That is just a smokescreen for the real purpose of making the rich American elite even richer.

to be accurate i don’t think the trump admin ever said it was for helping the people of venezuela. that was the cope by the guys trying to justify it

Serve America's national interests.

JD Vance: "The way that we control Venezuela is we control the purse strings, we control the energy resources. And we tell the regime, 'You're allowed to sell the oil so long as you serve America's national interests.'"

Why don't you go down there and show them how to properly ◊◊◊◊ a couch.

No, US refineries need the cheap heavy crude to run, even though they won't be able to sell it. But it's better than not running at all. Canada shale is too expensive to be worth it at current prices.

That rough crude is called Brent crude for some reason. Texass refineries are set up exactly to processing it.

Each type of crude has a slightly different type of refinery to process it.

Bbbut, didn't the "illicit activity", i.e. the drug trade, stop when Maduro was illegally kidnapped? That was the idea... wasn't it?

Oh, wait!!

I thought Brent crude was quite a light, "sweet" crude oil, from the Brent field in the North Sea. Maybe I'm wrong. Not my field. Pun clearly intended.

I thought Brent was 'high-quality "light sweet" crude oil, blended from North Sea fields (Brent, Forties, Oseberg, Ekofisk, Troll) making it easy to refine into petrol and diesel,.
