Palin Uses A Crib Sheet

Count the number of words on her palm vs. those on the President's teleprompter.
 
I just don't know how to react to this story. It is just too weird.

Apparently she noticed peoples' noticing and wrote "HI MOM" the next day...

WTF :confused: ?
 
She needed to look at her palm to reply to Chris Wallace and there were only a couple subject headings written on it. She couldn't remember "tax cuts" and "energy" without a cheat sheet.

I'm still skeptical of the story. The videos sure look damning, but I'm still not 100% convinced. It makes no sense.

What good would these couple of words do for her during a Q & A? If the question is on energy, how would the word "energy" on her hand help her out? At best, these are points she wanted to touch on--whether the question addressed them or not.

I dunno. . . the shots that showed the words relatively clearly didn't look compatible with the later shot of the smudged palm.

But it's sad that a story like this can't be dismissed as a hoax straight away. It's entirely possible that someone who made a fuss about Obama using a teleprompter would rely on crib notes inked on her palm during Q & A and interviews.
 
I'm Skeptical of this story too. I know several people who when they want to jot down a note they'll glance around for paper, and if it isn't there will just write on their hand.

It's just such weird stuff to write there though. I'm thinking this might not be true at all. I don't know though.

Is she denying it? Was it live TV? Was it captured on multiple cameras from multiple TV stations including Fox News?

It is exactly as relevant, which is to say, not at all.

Yes, people talk from notes. When giving a presentation, I often have index cards on a lectern to remind me not to overlook certain key points. If I didn't have any place to hide the index cards, I could see putting them on my hand.

Unless I could afford a teleprompter.

So she can't remember seven words and he can't remember 700?

I don't think there's anything wrong with notes, but it's more understandable someone would need to a read a new speech rather than recite old talking points.

To be clear: this isn't about Palin using notes to give speech.

This is about her writing talking point reminders on her hand for Q & A and interviews. . . and apparently relying on them, unless these videos are faked.

Yet another hysterical "proof of evil stupid Republican" story based on nothing. (Of course, similar "shocking discoveries" about Democrats also occur. One must feed the 24-"news" cycle.)

I especially like the huffing and puffing post's "analysis": apparently writing a few topics on one's hands to remind oneself what to emphasize in a speech "proves" she knew about the questions in advance and the Q&A periods were "a farce" or that she is so dumb she couldn't possibly have remembered what she was speaking about otherwise.

Ever wrote a few words on your palm before a test? Well, that proves you know about the test questions' in advance and the test was a farce, and that you were so dumb you just couldn't solve the test on your own.

But then again, you probably aren't a Republican politician. We all know what they are like. It's a conspiracy. Sure.

Palin reacted quite correctly when, showing the correct sense of humor and dismissive disregard of the media's hysterical "shocking discovery", she wrote "Hi Mom" on her palm in the next public appearance, in effect telling them that they're being very silly and she doesn't care much.

Naturally this upsets the media more than anything. How dare she laugh dismissively at them instead of groveling and apologizing for her "stupidity" and "misstep" like she should? Inconceivable! Further proof of what a total moron she is!

I really doubt this would be an issue if she also hadn't just blasted President Obama for Teleprompters...

Oh.. Thats Right. Obama is 'stupid' and 'incompetent' when he uses teleprompters to give speeches... Its Ok when Republicans write points on their hands for a Q&A, but Democrats.. HAR HAR HAR! Look at Stupid Man Read From MACHINE! HAR HAR HAR!

Notes, teleprompters, ear pieces, fine. But don't make fun of someone using a teleprompter when you've got notes written on your hand.

She wasn't taking the SAT's, she was doing a Q&A. She can't manage that without writing on her hand? Seriously?

And why do it on the sly? She should have had a stovepipe hat, ala Lincoln, with a bunch of 3x5 cards she could whip out. I like how she rubbed her hand on her leg to get rid of the writing. Why do you think she did that?

I would make fun of ANY politician caught doing this. In fact, I've never heard of any politician looking at notes on their hand during an interview. It's ****ing hilarious!

I gave a public address 3 weeks ago.

I had my whole speech typed up and laid out on the podium in front of me.

I begrudge neither Sarah Palin nor President Obama their high or low tech mnemonic aids.
 
Perhaps she was just trying to work out some possible names for her next five children.

There is nothing at all wrong with a politician using a "crib sheet", for example if a politician was discussing a complex issue which involved reams of statistics I would prefer it if they had a crib sheet to hand to ensure the accuracy of the statistics.

What makes it funny in the Palin case is when and especially how she looked at it, the content and of course the hypocrisy of her views on politicians that need to use memory aids. (Granted she is not a politician so she might hold politicians to a higher standard than she expects she should be held to.)
