Hmmm, but I bet you all will claim you have a nice healthy balance.

Suggestologist said:The idea that "You're not going to stimulate anything in the pelvis by stimulating the ankle" shows complete ignorance of psychological possibilities, and more specifically, fetish psychology.

Perhaps you missed the sentence from the article immediately following the one you quoted, which says:
Barrett suggested the device might work by suggestion, or some secondary effect like relaxing its wearer.
This clearly includes psychological effects. Barrett merely says that pelvic stimulation by the device is a far-fetched claim.

Actually, no honest man would ever claim any such thing.
All I know is, if God had meant for men to masturbate, he would have given us hands and external genitals…oh wait. Never mind.
Hey, you people! GET A ROOM!

Calling relaxation a "secondary effect" is his attempt to downgrade it's utility. You may as well call what viagra does a "tertiary effect".
Furthermore, we don't know how the brain is wired up. It may be a fact that the ankles are a naturally erogenous zone for many women. Dismissing the possibility because he "can't see how" is silly -- and demonstrates more than just the ignorance of how the brain functions that everyone has right now.

You are assuming that because the devices are worn on the ankles, they only stimulate the ankles.aerosolben said:Stimulation of the ankle, on the other hand, is probably causes stimulation via a mental association with some other object/context/etc which is directly stimulating. This, I think, is the point.

These devices put a weak electric current through the body. If the gizmo on your left ankle is "+" (or A.C. "hot"), and the gizmo on your right ankle is "-" (or A.C. "neutral"), then the electric current will flow up one leg, through your groin area, and down the other leg.
Thus it may stimulate not only the two ankles, but everything between them.
