Anyhoo, Interesting example. Sure burning and chaining is obvious, but what about the subtle things we do to our children.
Sometimes when we think we are being good to our children we are actually hurting them. ( take for instance, our primary education system) You know the old saying,"The road to hell is paved with the blood and pelts of lemmings", Oops, oh yea, the court order.
And refering back to my handy book of over-used metaphores and eauphamisims (from Pseudo-intellectual Press) One man's pleasure is another man's poison.
P.S. Oops, I just saw you are from Canada. I am unfamiliar with
the primary education system in Canada, but I can tell you
it's pretty dismal here. Our school system is more concerned
with our childrens "self-esteem" than with preparing them to become educated, self sufficient, and to deal with our society as they can (which, by the way are the true self-esteem builders)
