OK - but I don't think Scotland could stop the repeal of the ECA as amended, even if all its MPs voted against, as it's a Westminster act.

In which case that seems like an even worse situation: the DAs may have to apply EU law despite not being part of it, until they sort it out. I'd like to see the legal parts in question.

For information on the acts affected by the ECA see this article from the constitution unit. It's a QC's delight. https://constitution-unit.com/2016/...egislation-would-invoke-the-sewel-convention/

petition being investigated fir Fraud according to BBC. Votes will be removed if they appear to be fraudulent.

Man who started it says it was started when it looked like leave weren't going to win "with the intention of making it harder for 'remain' to further shackle us to the EU".

He say it has been hijacked by remain.

Well done trigger (but not regarding the bit about it being hijacked by remain). Keep going, you'll get there in the end, but seeing as you only get your news from the BBC it may take you another week or two to learn the truth. ;)

I just Wonder how the UK will do as from now to be involved in the TTIP (or TAFTA) agreement negotiations. I doubt that the EU Commission will continue to negotiate on behalf of the UK unless they get a specific proxy to do so. And even if it is the case it not sure they want to do it.

Just one more example of the questions raised by the Brexit vote.

Oh dear that's out of the Alex Salmond "immensely hypocritical stupid bluff" playbook

Clearly that means it is fine with the SNP if "Westminster" were to veto an independence yes.

The SNP has a remain policy, as do all of the other Scottish parties, including the Scottish Tories as it was the English Tories where the split was. There is no UKIP in Scotland to speak of. Then the vote in Scotland was 62% remain, the highest in the UK with no electoral areas voting to leave.

So Sturgeon has been told to keep Scotland in the EU. It is her job to do so. She has acknowledged that and pointed out she either faces the wrath of Scotland or the wrath of England and Wales for forcing a decision on the other. She will do her job and go as First Minister of Scotland.

There is a compromise. England and Wales support that Scotland remains in the EU as a special member territory.

Now Sturgeon thinks that Scotland can veto Brexit. BBC.

To be fair (and critical of the BBC), I can't see anything in the text which justifies the headline. Nor have I seen the actual interview.
She didn't say Scotland would veto Brexit on "Peston on Sunday". She was happy for the idea to be out there it seemed.

She did state at the end of the same interview that it would be "completely democratically unacceptable" and "inconceivable" for "Westminster" to not authorise a second IndyRef. Since that is the exact analogy of Scotland attempting to thwart a UK Brexit I conclude she will not advance that line. Probably won't mind if others do.

Keep digging. You are wrong as I've shown, but I suspect you'll have the JCB out by the end of the day.

I looked at the figures at 14:34. I stand by what I said. The great majority of signatures are from the UK, and the vast majority of them resolve to parliamentary constituencies that do not seem to have abnormally high counts in relation to their actual electorate. For example, in the case of mine there are petition votes equivalent to around 17% of the electorate, and that's in a London Borough that voted by a large majority to Remain.

Stop fixating on North Korean and Vatican City votes that have all been weeded out, anyway. You have to show why you think the UK votes are faked. Bear in mind that postcodes have to be input, and given that they only relate to a limited number of addresses each, it would be easy to spot anomalies.

It would be "self determination where we want it, not where you want it". In other words it would shred any idea of the SNP honouring a principle of self determination.

(Although I would be rather happy if they managed to do it)

I'm sure the leave side are as saddened at the thought of more Canary Wharf folks packing their stuff as they are about Moody's Investors Service placing UK bonds on negative watch. Massive Bregret-xit.

She has also been told to keep Scotland in The UK. Who is it not her job to do so? There is a logical error in concluding that a lot to keep the UK in the EU equates to a lot for Scottish independence. Especially as Scotland is like to get greater benefits from leaving the EU than England. (Which is why Iceland, Norway, Greenland, the Faroes, are not in the EU.)
