For what it's worth, last January, DeBergerac and I walked the distance from The Tuscany (the hotel of the meeting) to The Hilton (for the Star Trek experience) along Paradise Road. According to the map that's a little under 2.5 miles (believe me, it looked closer on the map, which is why we decided to walk there
). Anyway, I don't think it took us more than half an hour to get there.
The downside (if you could call it that) of staying at The Tuscany was that the shortest route to the strip put you right at the big intersection with Flamingo, so I ended up choosing a side of the strip to 'crawl', then made it half way to the end and then had to turn back so I wouldn't be late for other activities. And Sunday's screw-up at the car rental place ended up in me taking a free busride to the airport and hop on the (much cheaper than a taxi) shuttlebus, which among others passed Excalibur. I should have stepped off there and checked it out, but being the lazy sod that I am, I got off at Harrah's instead. As a result I only visited two Hotels inside, Ceasars and Paris, that's all I had time for.
So that's why I am taking all this extra time out before TAM this time, hoping to catch more interesting sights now
