New tablet?

I'd be careful with tablets intended for children. Most of the time, they have low resolution, which might make browsing big (as in "big screen) sites uncomfortable to navigate.
They also have slow CPUs, inadequate RAM and storage, and often outdated version of Android.

Fine for a five-year-old who only wants to play Angry Birds, and who you know will drop the thing on the kitchen tiles sooner rather than later. But if you want to get anything done, they're nothing but frustration.

The 1024 x 600 screen is definitely an improvement over the 800 x 400 screen on my obsolete notebook. The tablet might also be good as an ebook reader, except the 3-hour battery life isn't too impressive.

Looking at the user-manual from the manufacturer's website, I see that the troubleshooting page has a solution to "The Battery runs out too quickly". The solution is "Change the brightness to a lower setting".

But the question is, do I want to shell out AU$79.95 right now for something that's basically just a toy with lots of bad reviews? I'm going to have to think it over, and hope they don't sell out before I've decided.

After using netbooks for several years, I thought that a couple of hours was all I needed. After using the tablet, I was blown away by how long I could go on using it without charging.

In short; don't settle for anything under 5 hour of web browsing. 3 hours is measly by tablet standards.

Don't forget that some of them also lack Place Store support, so no easy way to install angry birds.

I've seen those reviews, too, though I haven't encountered any problems with my mine (yet).

I picked up a Logitech keyboard (this one) for about $32 and it's worked well for me, but I haven't spent a lot of time on it yet, and I haven't tried any competing keyboards.
.
I have that one also. Works OK with my ACER iconia B1.
One charge lasts a looooooooooong time...but.. the power button can be pushed up when putting it in the carrying sleeve I have for the tablet. Gots to be careful there.
.
I just paired the Logictech keyboard to my Motorola Moto G.
Neat!

Disconnected the Moto G from Consumer Cellular... ported the phone number to a new phone.
But was surprised to see the Moto G will work as a tablet! Really small screen, with all the usual internet stuff operational, but no phone connection.
Reenergized an ATT Smart Phone.. Samsung SGH877 which had had the phone number a while back but was deactivated, and looked to see if it could connect to the 'net... Nope! "Service not available" for all the widgets and apps on it.
