Just announced on CBS news. No articles to source yet.

Council of Armed Forces ordered to run the country.

When I heard the latest news I thought "yeah right" but...my IPU, it seems to be true!

Obligatory cynicism rather than celebration of people power and the end of a cruel autocrat etc etc.

Now comes the hard part of changing a country.

This is a great victory for freedom and civil rights, and a great defeat for the forces of brutality and dictatorship.

Not yet Thunder. They merely overthrew the President. The real fun is just beginning.

Sounds like the military may now be in control.

Yeah, let's all cheer for the newest military dictatorship in the Middle East!

Seriously, let's hope this crap-shoot turns out well for Egyptians.

Yeah, it's not going to automatically be puppies and unicorns and rainbows for Egypt just because Mubarak is out.

This is now the most dangerously precarious time for Egypt and Egyptians.

I wonder if maybe his first idea of waiting until September might not have been a good idea. That would have been seven months to organize new elections where different political parties could form and campaign, and the electorate could at least have some semblance of an educated choice. I know that's not as satisfying to those who wanted Mubarak out ASAP, but might have been less dangerous.

Let's hope my fears prove groundless.

I have no love for Murabarak, but it's a crap shoot. A lot of people are viewing this with Rose Colored Glasses.
The record of the Mid East when it comes to democracy is not good. It migth be a case of "Old Boss Same As The New Boss".
