Mission Accomplished +3

At least they won't be quoting retired generals, who should really keep their opinions to themselves.
On the off-chance you are not being facetious, why should retired generals keep their opinions to themselves?

Retired Generals should keep quiet to protect and defend incompetence...it is the only way that will enable Bush and the GOP to run future elections on the issue of national security. On the other hand, retired generals, when and if a Democrat is ever in office, should complain bitterly -- as some did to the applause of the right wing -- exposing incompetence and how Democrats mismange the military and undermine the troops.

Well, that makes it ok. Thanks. I'm glad to know there was a plan behind the spike and it was expected. My faith in the mission has been restored. My faith in the people setting policy here has been restored. I now admit that I have been completely wrong.

How wise is it to play the sarcasm card about being wrong when you were indeed wrong about your facts?

As for the larger picture, my point wasn't that everything is perfect, that no criticism is warranted, or anything of the sort. My point was merely that the situation is more complicated than you evidently understood, and that since you did NOT have your facts straight, you might want to reconsider just how solid your conclusions really are. Maybe after careful consideration you'll decide that things are still going the wrong way. But you display no indications that you HAVE given careful consideration to anything even after you discovered that you misunderstood the situation - especially how you get your basic facts about the conflict. All I see are more snide remarks, which is pretty much all you've had to offer (other than wrong statistics) in this thread.

HS,

As an admirer of your posts over the years (you are generally a well thought out poster), let me say you are getting a bit disappointing.

To post something and then make the comment, "Why do you hate America?" is getting a tad bit old. If someone makes the idiotic comparison that disagreeing with the current administration is "hating America" then please call them on it. But simply using this line all the time is cheap. It is poisoning the well. Everyone who disagrees with what you post must automatically be accussing you of "hating America." or complaining about the "liberal media" or whatever.

I really can't say I have seen anyone in recent memory actually make this argument. (It might happen though, but it is nowhere as near as prevelent as the comment, "Why do you hate America?")

It would be better for you to actually engage in Ziggarut's posts rather than make lots of snide remarks that imply he meant things he didn't.

From past posts, I know you are a very well informed and at times eloquent poster. This is getting beneath you.

You totally ripped that off from REO Speedwagon.
