Damn, I didnt think posting these would create such a firestorm. FYI, I did not create these photos, I ran across them surfing the net and thought I would share. Sorry if some of you got worked up into a tizzy.

I generally agree. Not that it can't be done well, but usually it falls into the "too-over-the-top-to-be-funny" category. Sort of like making a Hitler/nazi comparison in a argument. Hitler/nazi references are just too cheap and easy. Particularly with such a hot button topic. It's one thing to paste Elvis into a KFC ad, another thing to depict G.W. Bush with the Hitler 'do and moustache (I saw this one yesterday).

I think the humour in politics is in pointing out hypocrisy. Mike Moore has never mentioned the Jews or shown himself to be a fan of Osama. Hence, no humour. The attacks on GWB for cocaine are, in contrast, pointing out hypocrisy. He has never denied it, and is quite happy to continue the 'war on drugs'.

The fact is, Bush is a cretinous moron with several agendas, and is evil without any sort of links to Hitler. Why make false analogies when there is so much real stuff to criticize?

Anyway, I find those photoshoppings just as hamfisted as those painting Bush as a Nazi.

Of course not. Hitler was elected, and Moore is still stuck on the two-year old non-issue of election problems that are so completely moot he couldn't even market a muckraking film about them anymore.

I thought they were funny. Wanna post a poll over "what is humor," or just accept that your opinion is NOT one of your "facts"?

Besides, I'll bet you couldn't pull off even this "hamfisted" photoshop stunt.
 
Put me down for thinking they're amusing, though not that riproaring funny. It's obvious they're a spoof. There's no resort of explicit violence or gore or(shuddering to think of the word in conjunction with Michael Moore) overtly sexual in them. I can see why it might not appeal to some people, but really, relax. There's plenty of real issues out there that are worth getting upset about and speaking out for or against. And this isn'[t onme of them.

My response was not to make a mountain out of a moorehill (sorry, couldn't resist). I got a bit riled up at the pics because I take issues like anti-semitism, Nazism, and libel very seriously. There are enough *real* racists and terrorists in this world to worry about, without creating them where none exist.

I also genuinely don't see the humor in the pictures. As has been pointed out earlier, the essence of most satire is exposing hypocracy or pretension through irony and wit. Those photos do not reveal any humorous truth about Moore or his views. They're simply ad hominems, unwarranted and false.

Why is anyone wasting their time with this crap? Clumsy photoshops, amusing only in the sense of pondering the intellect of those who do find them funny.
 
i dont find them funny because i find them tasteless. i find them unfunny the same way i find the three stooges unfunny. because theyre just not funny.

i prefer fat jokes.

I noticed these same posters complaining about the MM photo’s are some of the same people who find it quite enjoyable to take shots at Bush in many other threads using the same type of humor.
Suddenly its not so funny if its one of your own people.

Is there a thread somewhere with pictures that paint GWB in the same fashion? Please point me to 'em, cause I missed out on the sort of humor I find valid and uproarious!

As one of the posters who didn't think the photo's were funny I will call you on this. Please post some links backing up your claim.
 
I intensely dislike Michael Moore.
The photoshops are uninspired, unsophisticated, unfunny and beyond lameness. I question the intelligence of anyone that finds these genuinely amusing and will judge that person accordingly.
 
Yes it's true that people on this forum have made fun of Bush, but you claimed:
