Last night, my fine city (which recently passed an ordinance saying I can't be nekkid in my house with the drapes open) passed an ordinance saying I must spay or neuter my pets AND microchip them. I wondered how long it would take for the CTists to come forth and say it's only time before they're doing it to people. It didn't take long.

They didnt pass this un-constitutional law because of an animal overpopulation problem! They passed it simply to cut away our civil rights. Humans will be the next victims to a Mandatory Chip insertion.

Yes, and the micro chip inserted into humans will control the population. It will be used to scan for shopping, security, transportation, etc. If you don't take the chip, when it is mandated, then you will be banned from civilization. This is opening Pandora's box to more of civil rights being taken away.

Is it so hard to believe that one day in about twenty years they will require children to be chipped? Microchipping is essential to renuniting lost children. Then you will have to have a chip to drive the freeways. Terror will be stopped. Then welcome to big brother goverment that owns your rear end in a way never before seen on earth.

What a coinkydink! My city passed the exact same resolution, last night as well! This is obviously a conspiracy!

I do find this ordinance to be a like Gladys Kravitz poking her nose in where it doesn't belong, but as long as my vet doesn't accidentally stab me with something while I am having my dog's teeth cleaned, I think we are safe.

I understand your annoyance, but after working at a cat shelter I've come to understand the necessity of it.

There's a necessity for microchipping? I will agree 100% on the necessity to spay and neuter but how many shelters have microchip scanners? The county animal shelter has one, but the local (city) shelter doesn't. So what's the point? My cat would only be returned to me if he were lucky enough to be caught by the county and not the city.
