Why do you think this is so crazy? This is Michael Jackson we are talking about. By his standards, this is one of the most normal things he has done.

1. Michael Jackson can surely dance.
2. Some of the more conservative strains of Islam aren't too keen on dance. (Sorta like the fundy Baptists who are not too keen on dance.) So, yeah, it plays on a very narrow caricature of Islam to attempt the joke.

They can't all be gems.

You know, that didn't even occur to me. The muslims I have known have been great dancers. They took me to a Bhangra night once - it was brilliant, but I ended up beng the one who looked like they have never danced before...

Judging from the photo, I think he converted just so he'd have an excuse to wear a burkha, and hide his face. Perhaps he'll create a new fashion trend, getting Muslim men to wear the same clothing they've been forcing their women to wear.
