Mel Gibson 's racist rant

In Mel's defence, assuming the tapes genuine and transcripts thereof accurate and complete, at no point does he blame the Jews for starting all the wars in the world, or refer to Oksana as "sugar tits".

I'm not sure if they are phone calls, or recordings of fights they had in person in their house. Nobody is specific yet.

Ahh, thanks for that. If they are not phone calls, then the one-party/two-party state rules and federal rules about phone calls become entirely irrelevant, and the admissibility or inadmissibility of them as evidence in court (should it come to that) changes as well.

Uhm.. why is leaking the tape disgusting again?

She classlessly and cowardly taped him without his knowledge (and might have provoked him into saying those things), released it to the public- not the courtroom, not the judge- behind his back and publicly humiliated him in order to gain leverage in a custody battle.

If that's not disgusting, heaven knows what is.

Not that he isn't an absolute jackass. As a matter of fact, screw him. Forget about him.

What she did was disgusting towards her daughter. If she wanted the best for her daughter now and in the future, she should have sought to settle the custody as quickly and painlessly as possible, done as little as possible to poison the relationship between the daughter and her father, not separated her from her Dad (unless there was an issue of abuse) and not given the daughter horrible things to read about herself online 15 years from now.

First, we don't know if she leaked the tape.
Second, I don't care how much a person is provoked, that kind of nonsense shows that Mel is a racist a-hole with an anger management problem.
Third, we don't know if he was provoked or not.
Fourth, I think a racist a-hole like Mel should not have custody of any children, ever.

Yes, he's nuts. Yeah, that rant is jaw dropping, even coming from him.

Still, his ex-girlfriend has no right to remove his daughter from him. Not unless he regularly uses racial or sexist slurs in front of the child, displays violent behavior in the child's presence or is otherwise an unfit parent. Not just a dirt bag- an unfit parent.

And she did the poor kid no favors by releasing all this publicly. All she did was damage the family even more, prolong the custody dispute and produce even more hurtful gossip for the child to hear when she's old enough to understand these things and be interested in them.

He's nuts, therefore she has every right to remove his daughter from him. Mel has a history of nutty, violent and disgusting behavior.

She classlessly and cowardly

Begging the question

taped him without his knowledge (and might have provoked him into saying those things),

Bizarre. Personally, I can't imagine anyone I know saying something that would provoke me into saying that crap. I couldn't come up with that kind of stuff regardless of the situation. How is someone provoked into saying racist crap?

At least three people in this thread have assumed she leaked the tape despite having no evidence whatsoever to prove that. Astounding and doesn't speak well for the "skeptics" here.

Well, really, where else would they have gotten it from? She made the tape. She possessed the tape. It contained things that would help her immensely in the custody fight. The tape was leaked. The most likely conclusion by far here is that the ex-girlfriend, who had control of it and whose interests it served, leaked it.

Allright, you are correct, answer changed. There is no direct evidence she did it, no. So she probably leaked the tape. It could have been someone else, yes. There could be something we don't know about, yes. So let's say for now that she probably did it.

From what I read above, the tapes have been introduced to the court. Someone mentioned that there was a court order against them being released. As such, many more people than just her had access to the tape. Starting with her lawyers and their secretaries and other staff.

You know who else possessed the tape? THE COURTS. You don't think someone at the courthouse could have leaked it for a buck?

Or as I said, someone in her lawyer's office.

I still want to know how he was "provoked" into spewing racist comments.

Yeah, even IF she taped him illegally, even IF she released the tapes, there's no justification for the things he said. Provoked, yeah right.

(and might have provoked him into saying those things),

Can you briefly explain how to provoke someone into saying "raped by a pack of *******,"? I am quite sure that there is nothing in the world that would provoke me into saying that. Is there any way to get you to say that?

You seem to be making a whole lot of assumptions here, which are thusfar unsupported by any evidence. Perhaps it would be better to refrain until you have some evidence in support of your assumptions and assertions.

In any event, does anyone have any information about the provenance of the alleged tape recordings and the purposes for which they are allegedly being introduced into court? If so, please advise.

Why are people taking sides here? It's not clear if what she did is illegal or who leaked the tapes. In the event this is what it appears to be, then they both suck.

Then why didn't you write: "She says she didn't leak them and you and I don't have any evidence that this is true or false" ?
That would have been you being incredibly skeptical.

Instead you went into "oh, poor woman" mode and automatically took her side by saying, as you did: "She says she didn't leak them and you don't have any evidence that she did."

I don't see any significant difference in those two statements. Both, in my opinion, show an equal degree of skepticism, and I disagree that either of them shows a greater degree of "oh, poor woman" mode.

Just sayin'.
