Merged Mayan documentary

*snerk*

You might be surprised how many times I've heard that Stonehenge had alien origins. None recently, but... this just makes me laugh.

Well, Machu Pichu was built in the 15th century. Maybe we should look for claims that European buildings from that period were built by aliens.

My example of Stonehenge wasn't chosen well. Maybe Florence cathedral, to name something at random? I'm very interested to know what alien architect proponents have to say about that.

this doesn't even need debunking the facts are that poor, firstly the culture they are talking about are the Maya, not the Mayans,
from the "newsflash"
The filmmakers behind "Revelations of the Mayans 2012 and Beyond," who said that their film will reveal evidence of contact between the Mayans and extraterrestrials,
The monument, according to an accompanying letter by archaeologist Hector E. Mejia, dates back to between 3,500 and 5,000 B.C.

and reality
The Maya is a Mesoamerican civilization, noted for the only known fully developed written language of the pre-Columbian Americas, as well as for its art, architecture, and mathematical and astronomical systems. Initially established during the Pre-Classic period (c. 2000 BC to 250 AD),
the discrepancy is the equivalent of claiming that Boeing were building 747s in the dark ages, so film maker is another pseudoarchaeologist who's claims are laughable.
Interestingly this is being supported by the minister of tourism for guatemala, I guess he has a vested interest in Guatemala frenzy amongst western people with holiday funds.
but really so what if they claim to offer proof, their standards for proof are as low as the standards for proof of the Ancient Aliens docu, or Daniken, Childress, Hancock and the rest of the wild bunch who don't write about the truth because the truth doesn't sell
;)

Bumping up this thread in case anyone is interested in how this turned out.

I was wondering what had happened to this explosive documentary, so I did a bit of Googling. There has been some news just from last month:

Arbitrator Rules Mayan Prophesy Filmmaker Breached Contract
...

One might assume that with the human species in peril, there would be no time to waste in wrapping up the film, but in April 2012, Julia-Levy suddenly stopped production of the documentary, firing the crew and terminating an agreement with a company that was hired to do postproduction. As a result of the action, he was taken to arbitration at the Independent Film & Television Alliance by his partner on the documentary, Elizabeth Theriot.
...

The arbitrator, who wrote that he was the subject of an intimidation attempt by Julia-Levy during the proceedings, also knocked down one-by-one all of Julia-Levy's assertions that he was getting government assistance on the documentary beyond a permit to film. There was no federal government order to deliver footage. There was no proof that the governments had promised to provide security and transportation. And certainly not last and least, there was no proof that the Mexican and Guatemalan governments were supporting the revelation of evidence about a contract between the Mayans and extraterrestrials.

As Phillips wrote, "[Julia-Levy] represented that he would produce actual artifacts, tangible proof of an agreement between the Mayans and extraterrestrials. He stated that he would produce archaeological papers, which he did. However [Theriot] testified that she later learned that they were falsified."

Not much of a surprise, of course, but maybe a fitting end to the whole debacle. At least this idiot didn't get to make a cent from the "documentary".
