Marcus Bachmann

From a school that for all intents and purposes was little more than a fancy, "distance-learning" (mail order) diploma mill.

No.

Diploma mills do not submit their theses to dissertation abstracts. Absolutely not.

This is not Kent Hovind's institution.

Clearly his degree was from an institution that did not have as rigorous a program as most folks would expect from a doctorate-granting institution.

There are always variations in quality. However, this is not a diploma mill.

Uote

Focus on people with REAL false degrees, like Kent Hovind.

Why? They're both evil sociopaths. They rerally have a lot in common. Neither ever comes within hailing distance of reality.

Questioning the legitimacy of his PhD or not because you don't like the quality of the institution is like questioning the legitimacy of John Kerry's purple hearts - it's petty nonsense.

Kerry was in the actual armed forces. Apparently, the college which issued Marcus' PhD, like that which gave whacky old Michelle her law degree is to actual academia as the Militia of Montana is to the Army.

The Union Institute and University was granting PhDs as recently as 2011. There are at least 6 PhD theses from that school in dissertations abstracts this year.

Apparently, your information is wrong.

And I honestly don't care what the hell division of the school or the degree was called when he got his degree. His area of study was psychology, and I see no reason to think that it was not in the area of clinical psychology.

There is no basis for this petty criticism.

Focusing on Preschool Education, Social Psychology (is that even a recognized specialization?) and Developmental Psychology on the way to earning a self-designed PhD in Arts and Sciences is not the same as earning a PhD or PsyD in Clinical Psychology, and for him to claim a specialized degree that he has not actually earned is a big strike against him in my book. As for the current existence of the school he earned his degree from, I'd say it's got a similar name to the institution he 'attended' and that's realistically about it.

There is no basis for this petty criticism.

My wife is working on her Psy.D from a REAL accredited university and yes, there is plenty of basis for criticism.

Marcus Bachmann's two year degree from a "distance-learning" diploma mill isn't worth toilet paper.

REAL students for a doctor of psychology have to do two years of practicum, along with all the required academic classes and thesis.

There is no basis for this petty criticism.

The the institution was placed on probation (for a history of weak academic standards), then re-organized and then began offering a PhD in Clinical Psychology is precisely why pointing out the flaws in his claim of having a PhD in Clinical Psychology is not "petty criticism".

Not now. But that's partly why his claim to have a legitimate degree is deceitful. He didn't earn a PhD in Clinical Psychology (or anything else) from the current incarnation of the institution that has that name. He got a fluffy made-up degree (not a PhD in Clinical Psychology or even a PhD in Psychology) from an institution with a reputation for low academic standards.

The Cincinnati Enquirer

WALNUT HILLS - A private, national university headquartered in Cincinnati has made sweeping changes in its Ph.D. program after separate investigations by the Ohio Board of Regents and the U.S. Department of Education.

Union Institute and University, known for its flexible program that allows working professionals to help tailor their studies to earn a degree, will now adhere to stricter reporting requirements.

Students will continue to talk to professors over the telephone or via e-mail instead of attending lectures in a formal classroom. But they must now follow more stringent rules when they document their academic progress and apply for financial aid.

Among the changes:

• Union created a credit-hour system that more closely mirrors traditional college programs. Previously the school had not assigned credit-hours to specific coursework.

• The college also set up more concrete semesters, which will define a student's eligibility for financial aid. Before the change, students were not required to re-enroll.

• Students are now required to complete their doctoral program in no less than three and no more than seven years. The requirement had been no less than two years and no more than 10.

• Students must also complete academic progress reports every six months. Before the changes, the time period was much more fluid, school officials said.

There are a number of issues with Michele Bachmann's husband that, if they were associated with the spouse of a democratic candidate would be splashed all over Fox news 24/7.

You mean like the fact that he makes Barney Frank look like Burt Reynolds?

That parody isn't far off, tell me your gaydar doesn't start blinking when you hear Marcus Bachmann speak...

I think we'd better go ahead and reserve a couple more spots on this list for Marcus Bachmann and Andrew Shirvell. I figure it's only a matter of time...

You are muddying the waters between a Psy D and a PhD.

The Marcus doth protest too much, methinks.

(Apoligies to the good Mr. Shakespeare, whose words shouldn't even be applied to a dolt of this magnitude)
