Man with concealed carry license stops gunman

Yay.

Now you guys can add another "hero CCW" story to the pro-gun portfolio.

So far it seems to be the guy actually did the right thing at the right time and didn't injure anyone but the bad actor.

Where's the downside?

Why is an example of a legit DGU any less valid than an example of negligence or criminal behavior involving a firearm?

IMO, would have been so much better if neither the gunman or the uber driver had guns...

But I suppose that given the circumstances this is the best possible outcome that can be expected in the USA.

And it would be nice of people didn't rob, kill or rape, but we have to work within the real world not the world we wish existed.

Because people who disagree with the approved opinions of squeaky wheels are supposed to SHUT UP! and not talk back to their Moral Superiors.

And certainly not with nasty little things like facts. Those are only for the uncaring. Feelz is what's important.

I'm just glad you guys have a successful CCW use to hang your hats on. A real hero for you guys! Everybody wins!

When concrete examples of DGU matches the numbers of accidents, lemme know.

I have a prediction, because this thread does not have an "if there was no gun it would have turned out better" angle. It is going to fade into obscurity rather quickly.

Much better to pretend that any time a gun is used it will be to kill three kittens and a grandmother, than to maybe look into the belief that having armed folks can be a good thing in certain situations.

Again, someone was saved and you seem to be angry at that fact. If this guy did the same thing with a tazer, or mace you would be holding it high as evidence about how guns are completely unnecessary for defense. But as it was an armed civilian with a gun you simply grumble instead of seeing evidence that armed folks can and do help in certain situations.

Luckily my real world doesn't include an abundance of guns nor does it include easy access to firearms... and I like to keep it that way. For some inexplicable reason I, and those around me, seem to be facing much less risk of being victims of gun violence and the seemingly corresponding higher murder rate.

On a related note:

This 1-Year-Old Is Already the 24th U.S. Child Killed by Accidental Gun Violence in 2015

April 13, 2015

On Sunday in Cleveland, 1-year-old Braylon Robinson was killed by another child who had picked up an unattended firearm.

It wasn't an isolated incident. Robinson was at least the 24th child this year to die from an accidental gunshot wound.

But Yay!

The blind CCW pig found the occasional truffle. I know you guys were upset that Joseph Robert Wilcox didn't have a chance to be a CCW hero, so now you can celebrate!

Have there been 24 verifiable successful DGUs in the US this year?

More guns!

Don't upset them in their moment of glee.

It's just bad manners.

I'm not sure that I'd call it glee.... seems a bit strongly worded.

Nah, it's glee.

See, they've been on the defensive. Everytime a child is shot with a gun, everytime two gunnutters end up shooting each other at a car wash, everytime someone shoots up a school, they're the first to squeal "What about DGUs!?"

Yet when pressed for real numbers on these DGUs, they get sketchy.

So now we have a genuinely succesful DGU they can trot out. As if this somehow negates the other times guns are used to accidentally kill.

Yeah...glee. "See? Look! Here's a CCW gun use that saved lives!"

Show me 35,000 of these a year and I'll be impressed.

See, they've been on the defensive.

Actually, the antis are on the defensive and are losing ground. Gun ownership is legal throughout the United States and its possessions and the right expands with every pertinent court decision. To my mind, any professed anti who doesn't actively try to change that has no claim to moral high ground.

I saw no glee in the OP. BStrong is one our members who can speak on gun related issues without making various reckless accusations or jumping off the deep end.

It's just bad manners.
That is how you are behaving right now.

In this thread you're one closest to suggesting this is true at all.
