Man drops dog.

Maybe it's :

'Get Back! It's gonna blow!!'

(bloody terrorist dogs...coming into the country....)

Shoot, this is the definition of news. (You've heard of, and obliquely refer to "Man bites dog.")
Exactly, thank you for noticing.

Explain to me how this would not be news, or why, and how any news outfit could ignore it...
Are you saying that because no "news outfit could ignore it" makes it news?

...unless no criticism, or negative publicity of any kind, even of his own making can be generated about this particular human being.
This is not the subject of my question about the news value of this story. The fact that something is embarrassing or critical or negative does not remove any news value.

What makes it news? Is the only newsworthy aspect of it the embarrassing nature of it?

and the Israelis. Which one is throwing the rocks?"

No.
Human interest. No.

If there is no potential for embarrassment then of what human interest is there? It's funny because there is a component of embarrassment. If the dog fell from an inanimate object would it be news?

Dog Drop

Well, at least it looks as if the dog drop was an accident and not a purposeful body slam.

I believe that it was Lyndon Johnson who used to pick his beagles up into the air by their ears. I'm not really sure what it was supposed to do, but it was no accident. Remember seeing a picture of him doing it once, and the dog seemed to be having no fun. But then I doubt Bush's dog was happy either.

Just trying to avoid an unnecessary argument.

Not sure why we're looking for "issues."

You asked :
"Is the only newsworthy aspect of it the embarrassing nature of it?"

Now you say "a component".

I'm not disagreeing.

Hey sub,

I was just curious. Not a problem.

Caption: "I'm a big dumb moron and the worst president ever"

Oh wait, you probably wanted a funny caption. Oh well, maybe next time.

Whatever sells papers I guess. Whatever piques the interest of humans.
J-Lo and Ben, I don't care, but a lot of other people apparently do. Why? Dunno. I'm no genius (obviously).

It's market driven you are right. I don't think it is news but I guess news is in the eyes of the ratings.

If it bleeds it leads. A little T&A doesn't hurt either.

And the winner is:

"Get up you damn b*tch, or my nebulous career is over."

I forgot to tell you I was the sole judge.....

OK, back to the contest.....but this time I want funny.

"Gee, holding a dog is even harder than riding a Segway, or eating a pretzel."

(Now that's funny.)

Get back everyone! This "dog" is actually an al-Queda suicide poodle-bomb. I told you we'd find WMD!!

Bush was framed, the stupid dog jumped!!! I'll bet the Dems secretly trained him to do it.

Or maybe Bush was going for the $1 million challenge, and almost got it. "Damn, just 5 more seconds..."

Shoot, I don't know what makes news news.
Whatever sells papers I guess.
Or whatever they think will sell papers. It made sense when I typed it...

I love the little tiny caption on that news page that says:

"Related slideshow: Little League World Series". Guess the levitation act stole the thunder from the poor kids...sniff.
