This is not the subject of my question about the news value of this story. The fact that something is embarrassing or critical or negative does not remove any news value.

If there is no potential for embarrassment then of what human interest is there? It's funny because there is a component of embarrassment. If the dog fell from an inanimate object would it be news?subgenius said:

Well, at least it looks as if the dog drop was an accident and not a purposeful body slam.
I believe that it was Lyndon Johnson who used to pick his beagles up into the air by their ears. I'm not really sure what it was supposed to do, but it was no accident. Remember seeing a picture of him doing it once, and the dog seemed to be having no fun. But then I doubt Bush's dog was happy either.
