Linux for Dummies.

I've chickened out and wired the machine up to my router. I'd been using a Belkin wireless G USB adapter just for the sake of convenience but found it a bit quirky at the best of times. I also have an Asus USB adapter knocking around somewhere. I'll try out any suggestions when I get a chance as I'd like to move the machine to another room and running a cable there would be difficult.

The brand name under which the card is sold is almost irrelavent -- Linux had good support for only a few modern wireless chipsets without using ndiswrapper. This page has a fairly comprehensive list of USB wireless adaptors and their Linux support -- I recommend anything built around an Atheros chipset, as I have had very good results from them over the last few years.
