LG Philosophy, 101

Oh, let's give him a chance, at least. He's been working on this now for several years; surely he's studied the flaws and found new ways to account for those flaws.

My suggestion is to start with a section of terms and definitions, then list base premises. For example, it is useful to know that 'God' means 'The Totality of Existence', and that the primary premise is that 'Something is Having Experiences'. Just examples, Darren. I'm sure your lists will be more comprehensive and complete.

I can imagine this quickly expanding into brief discussions of each of his old topics - QM, infinite distances, relativity, etc - and if done right, this could be pinned (or at least linked to) for future JREf members to read through before getting too caught up in Darren's newer postings.

Great plan!

Neither idea seems irrational, does it?

No, but some of the conclusions he draws from this seem to be.

I am actually quite interested to read the Cliff's notes version of LG's philosophy. It is interesting and completely unlike most of the philosophy here, and I have a hard time believing LG is not intelligent. It is really hard to try and get what he is saying, mostly because it's hard to find (or deduce) his premises in the plethora of posts on the board.

ETA: The same goes for you hammegk. I would really like to hear your philosophy... you seem to do a lot of hit and run posting.

I've been asking for this almost since I met him. I hope he comes through.
You hope I come through?
The GM started a thread 2 days ago ("moderators") asking them about the possibility of a moderated thread so that I could do this. They haven't responded at all.
I like the idea of a moderated thread - a thread where I can have a serious discussion about my philosophy without interference from the "lifegazer is a looney" crew.

If I can't have a moderated thread I'll probably go ahead anyway, but I'll wait for upchurch or someone like him to respond to the request first.

Yes, I hope you provide us with a clear, concise, and complete summation of your philosophy.

He said that he would. If Upchurch or someone else can play ref in a new thread, I think LG will do it.

Is LG aware that one is not supposed to call other posters of "plonker" and similar terms at a moderated thread? He´ll have to adapt his style.

Ok... Lifegazer wants a serious discussion? Well then, I'll largely keep out of this one, except to make one point... Lifegazer has always, always avoided laying his thoughts down in stone, because he knows if he remains consistent, he'll eventually be consistently discreditted; He stated as much in the thread where Pahansari asked him what his intentions were in trying to argue here...

My primary aim has been to improve my philosophy, with a view to, ultimately, changing the widespread contemporary mindset. I've said on several occasions that it's an evolving piece of work. Maybe one day I'll write a book. Who knows.

http://www.randi.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?s=&threadid=56457

And so, even if you do get your 10 bulletin points today, he's only going to "evolve" with them tomorrow when it becomes apparent that there are huge flaws in the logic of what he's claimed. He doesn't have a "philosophy", he has a desperate need to justify his own withdrawal from society, to overturn society... whilst simultaneously wanting to be thought of as a great thinker by that self same society. And if he doesn't achieve the latter, he'll re-write the former... and if he still doesn't get the latter, expect to be called a "plonker" (and worse), and to "go up a gear" as he lashes out at you for not worshipping him, and at himself for believing he ever needed the admiration of people he despises.

But maybe I'm wrong. So let's give him the chance to prove how serious he really is about having true wisdom;
Lifegazer absolutely has to state that these 10 points are not changeable. After all, he knows the truth, right? And is the truth mutable? So no changing your claims when your original claims get laughed at; No changing between "nothingness" and "hell" depending on which consequences of rejecting his ideas he thinks scares you more. Lifegazer states absolutely categorically that these 10 things are the things he holds to be absolutely true... no insulting people, no weaselling around words, no despicable mercanerism from him; Lifegazer stands his ground on those 10 points, and he tries to hold that ground with the power of his logic.

It's a question of honesty. I say he has none, that he has a broken and evilly selfish mind, and that he'll not have the basic decency to admit that he's changing God to fit his own needs, rather than having any kind of true wisdom at all. But here's his chance to prove me wrong. And if he changes any of his 10 claims, or indeed refuses to give you 10 such claims, it should be his last chance with his arguments here[/i]

The JREF shouldn't ban him. And he won't have the honesty to admit he's beaten and withdraw from the argumentative field. But the instant anyone sees him break his own "philisophy", you instantly put him on ignore.

As for myself, I'm going to take a wise posters advice and Lifegazer is going to be the first person on my own ignore list. I simply don't have an eternity with my loved ones, within this reality and it's people, to waste on an offensive lunatic like him.

Yeah, I understand what you're saying, PSA.
I intend to hold him to his ten points. I think this kind of discussion is important because it gives LG an opportunity to unequivically lay out what he really thinks. It gives us an opportunity to ask straight forward questions.
So yes, I will consider the Ten Points to be 'in stone'.

You don't have a choice mate. I doubt whether a single post of yours, to me, would have ever been accepted (and not deleted) if my threads had all been moderated under the conditions stipulated for the forthcoming thread.

Can't bear to look at a thread of mine where you aren't allowed to call me a lunatic as a response to my OP? I understand. Now shuffle off and enjoy your last few years. The memory of my words will be with you forever, whether you ignore me now or not. I delve deep and cannot be washed away with surface pleasures. You allowed yourself to get too close to me.
I want you to know that I do not hate you. You are me under different circumstances. If you ever change or want to change, look for me. I won't gloat. If not, I'll see you after your time ends.

In one sentence you gloat then say you won't gloat.

The hubris is amazing.

Now now, We're getting derailed already. Give the man time to make his post. So keep your personal comments to yourself. LG, the floor is yours.
