Some in here may consider "Countdown" as the newscast from liberal hell, but I really like the show because I think it's more authentic and less restrained concerning the truth between both sides of a story. (...a party)

Now Olbermann sometimes sounds a little bit whiny in his comments - but do you guys in here consider him and his newscast as being honest - even if you're an republican?

Oliver, there are people here who think that the statement that reality has a well-known liberal bias is not funny.

Well, that's my point here: Truth doesn't have a bias. :)
(I know, this is an unthinkable concept in the 2-party US-Media :().

Oh, but it does... truth is biased agains the wrong. ;)

I like Olbermann. But I'm a left-wing nutjob myself, so his "truth" is pretty close to my "truth".

*lol* No wonder that everybody blames you with these kinds of uninhibited confessions, Lisa. :D

But it looks like we don't have any republicans in here - or at least none who are watching "Countdown". Or to name it the way it is: They're afraid to get exposed as being passionate Olbermann-Admirer's like you and me. :)

Keith is just Bill-o's exact opposite... He is his liberal carbon copy. No better or worse than Bill-0; equally as uninformative and biased.

I'm a Republican who likes Olbermann's show, but I don't pretend it shows both sides of a story. it doesn't. It's a commentary and opnion show, not a news show.

But Olberman entertains me when he's not in his ranting strident mode.

Olbermann is not the opposite of Bill-O in in any fashion. Bill-O yells and screams, shuts off microphones, and lies. However, the shows themselves have different formats, so it's a bit unfair to compare them as shows. O-Really has guests on to be interviewed, i.e. to "face the Factor", whereas Olbermann has generally friendly guests, such as Jonathan Turley, who he uses to bolster his opinion. I don't think Keith is any less biased than Bill-O, but his show certainly contains more light than heat, which is a marked difference from the Fox News model of shouting and smearing.

I'd prefer more reasons and explaination than anger in his show based on the clips I've seen on youtube and the like. Since I do not have TV service at home I haven't watched a whole episode ever, so my take may be based on an incomplete view of his comments.
Generally he comes off as more rational and fact based than a lot of the shouting heads on both sides from what I've seen (o'reilly/hannity-style on the right and malloy/rhodes-style on the left).
of course, I bet I could win a "who's more liberal" contest with Lisa.

I also wonder if there are facts that Countdown made up something in the past. Well, beside these allegations from a group called "Media Research Center (MRC)":

[ETA] Oh, I see:

"The Media Research Center (MRC) is a conservative media criticism organization"

Search Youtube for anything with Jonathan Turley on Countdown. It's worth watching the show just for those segments.

Funny, I do think Olbermann has a clearly liberal bent, but that's different from being dishonest. If you watch the show, it's hard to say he's ever dishonest, since he basically dissects news items of the day, read from official MSNBC sources, then discusses them. Unless one thinks he's lying about his own opinion, which would be silly.

I agree. I don't think Olbermann makes stuff up (unlike Bill 'there's-an-epidemic-of-lesbian-gangs' O'Reilly), however he does report on the news with a very left wing slant.
