iTunes Equalizer

When playing a song in the iTunes application, it used to display at the top of the screen the artist name, song name, a status bar indicating how much of the song had played, a xx:xx clock showing how long the song had played so far, and another xx:xx clock showing the remaining time on song.

Recently it has begun showing instead a graphic equalizer.

How did I change it, and how can I change it back?

Thanks!

It's not an equalizer, it's a level meter. An equalizer is a control system, not just a display. iTunes' equalizer can be turned on or off in the Window menu.

But they're way more intuitive than MS products. The redesign of the Office menus is atrocious.
Agreed. I'm more poking fun at the idea that a computer interface can be so intuitive that things like bubble help tags, help files, etc., are unnecessary.

When I first switched from Windows to Mac, it took me forever to figure out how to send a picture in iChat. No buttons were visible to do it, no command in a context menu ... then someone told me to just drag and drop it on the window ...

Right you are!

Now you called it an equalizer!

Nonono.

iTunes has an equalizer, i.e., a control window that can dampen/louden specified frequency bands. On the Mac, it's a separate window that can be turned on and off from the Windows Menu, or with Ctrl-Command-2.

Learn something everyday. To show the equaliser click on view / show equaliser.

Yeah, well, the current iTunes version does not have the equalizer anymore in the View menu, and does not have an option anywhere that says "Show Equalizer" or similar.

It's only found as a second window option in the window menu (on Mac OS X), where it's easily overlooked.
