I don't remember anybody being tied up, gagged, dangled with sex toys, and drunk on the front lawn responsibly.
If he wanted to be tied up, gagged, dangled with sex toys, and drunk in the privacy of his own home, I am certain nobody would give it a second thought.

I don't follow. How is using sex toys a problem? Sex toy manufacturers sell an awful lot of toys. Obviously, a whole lot more people buy them than we'll admit. I'd be much more embarrassed about him passing out on the lawn than about his bedroom antics, which are no one else's business anyway.

I fail to see why this business is so hard for you to follow.

Being an ambassador is about the most public job there is, therefore if the ambassador is publicly embarassed and ridiculed, then the nation he represents is also publicy embarassed and ridiculed, which forces his principals to make a decisive response in order to avoid looking like they have been hiring absolute morons to represent their country.

When one is in such a job, it is essential to keep the details of ones private life well out of the public view. Now then, if the ambassador had done so, then I am quite sure that he would still have his position.

Aye. If he keeps what he does with his privates private, his tastes don't reach a point where they are balanced against the reputation of his very public office.
