BALLYBOGY (Reuters) - Police are combing miles of forest, hillside and bog on Northern Ireland's north coast in a hunt for two big cats -- thought to be a puma and a panther -- which have eluded capture for nearly eight weeks.
...
"There have been two distinct reports," he told Reuters. "One is of a black animal with a rope-like tail we feel is a panther, and the other is of a much lighter coloured animal which seems to be a puma."

Sightings of anomalous big cats, especially black ones, are commonly reported. One can find many such incidents from across the U.S. and the British Isles. As far as believability, though, I think they lag somewhat behind anomalous fish falls and rains of frogs.

I bet it was a labrador retriever, or a big house cat.

Chocolate Labs do not have 'rope-like tails'. Take it to the bank.

Nope, and Northern Ireland doesn't have pumas. But if a human witness could mistake a black lab for a black panther--and I think he could--then why not pin a ropelike tail on the thing? Maybe it was dragging an extension cord.

Well they are Irish aren't they? Exaggeration is part and parcel of...?
Whoops! Forgot myself there for a second.
Right!
It;s most likely a Puma or whatever...
Am I correct you people sell electical things [lamps etc.] without plugs?
U/K. - love them or leave them. [Thank Ed_God we made the right decision!]

Not any more. And more to the point, all our plugs have integral fuses. So I'll have no arguments from you about relative electrical safety, thank you ;)
