iPad Tips & Apps

I'm looking for cheap music creation apps, photo manipulation/editing apps and coloring/art apps (no stylus, digits only). Tips?

for cheap music creation: GarageBand is five bucks. A lot of bang for your buck. Nice variety of instruments, editing, and recording options

Thanks for the iPad tips, etc, kind people.

I'm wondering how you copy the link of a page you are on and paste it to another page.

Can't you just tap the address bar then hold your finger in the address bar until the magnifying glass appears, release, then hit select all, Hit copy, open a new tab and paste it in that addy bar (much faster than it sounds)?

I don't recall ever seeing an address bar. :con2:

D'oh! Yes, I see it, and can copy it. Thanks for the instructions.

I was a bit confused because there isn't an address bar in the apps. Not used to apps yet!

We got the Facebook app a few weeks ago, but it crashed when trying to load photos. Then an update came along, but it crashed when downloading, and now it won't download, and I can't delete it, and we can't use the app at all. Anyone else have similar problems?

Apparently the app sucks :)

Why can't you delete it ? Rather, how are your attempts to delete it being thwarted ?

Pop in to your local Starbucks (if you have one near you) from time to time. They have iTunes "pick of the week" cards that allow a free download of a specific item. Although the program began with weekly songs (some better than others), they've recently begun adding apps to the "pick of the week". Just recently they gave away "Star Walk" which is a wonderful app, and "MadPad" which is a fun little time waster.

Yes, that's what I meant. It works the same as syncing an iPhone or iPod.

I found out that my mom is getting my son an iPad for Christmas. Do I have to have iTunes to use the iPad? I would rather avoid installing that virus^h^h^h program on my computer.

It was my understanding that IOS 5 got rid of the iTunes requirement, no?

No, iTunes is no longer required /w iOS 5.

I understand iTunes is not some peoples favorite software ... but it does make it easier to manage your ipad.

I'm not sure what ^h^h^h means, but I'm unaware of viruses on iTunes, except for obvious phishing scams.

^h = Ctrl-H = backspace

equivalent to doing
virus program

I believe PhreePhly is calling iTunes itself a virus. It does install some unnecessary stuff but I think calling it a virus is going a bit overboard.

No, I mean't virus. The amount of performance drain caused by that program on a Windows computer puts it in the virus category for me.

Luckily, no iTunes was needed to setup the iPad.

I have it installed on a Win7 & an XP machine as well as my Macbook and have not noticed any performance problems. I find it the most convenient way to deal with podcasts and audiobooks, not to mention loading my own movies and e-books without having to purchase from Apple.
I'm not trying to convince you, PhreePhly, I'm not a fanboy either way and everyone can do as they please. I just think people shouldn't be afraid to give it a try. It can always be uninstalled if it doesn't work out.
