Intelligent Design

God decided to punish me for bragging.

I had my first ever accident that was my fault this weekend. Have been working on getting the car repaired.

Get the man a dunce cap. :(

It happens. It's not like you were intelligently designed.

Does that mean you have been in accidents before, but they were "someone else's" fault?

At least as you see it?

I have been in three accidents when I was driving. Since in two of them I was standing still in traffic and the other car hit me from behind, I cannot see how I had any fault at all. In the other one, I was turning and the girl in the car behind was adjusting her radio and hit me in the rear. Again I do not see how I can be at fault.

Strangely, no accidents where I have been a passenger in a car.

Jeez, your god sure is looking after me then. The only accident I have ever had was when my car's handbrake failed in a car park on a slope when I was inside the sports centre. It rolled across the aisle and slowly settled against another car. You might all hail the new Messiah, and kiss my feet.

How do you know that they weren't your god's way of punishing you for some misdemeanour? That would clearly make them your fault.

As a lifelong atheist whose car accident record is almost identical, I fail to see the hand of God in this.

For those who listen to podcasts, and have the time...

The latest Radiolab podcast concerns a bone marrow transplant.

I’ll leave it at that, but found some of the thinking contained therein to coincide with PartSkeptic’s worldview.

I’ll avoid any spoiler alerts, but found parts of the podcast a bit aggravating, in much the same way we seem to get aggravated by PartSkeptic.

Interested in feedback, if anyone does take the time to listen.

You have to admit the timing was great. Coincidence is God's way of staying anonymous. ;)

The cost and trouble of the repairs are however painful. :(

How do you know it wasn't Elvis? Seriously, why isn't the King responsible for the accident?

All of us have had coincidences in our lives both good or bad. Are they all the work of this being that NO ONE has ever proved exists? If they aren't, how can you tell which us which?
