Intelligent design explained!

He's been trying to use that same arguement for years.

Take a look on this page for his "debate" against Ron Barrier from 2001, it's under Athiest debate: BCAD. The debate was supposed to be about the existence of god. But apparently all he was prepared to do (at least how it sounded to me) was preach his same old ID speech. So there really is no debate on his part he addresses no issues that Barrier brings up, answers no questions, basically just keeps going on with a prepared speech that isn't even about what they were supposed to be debating.

What's funny is the page that is on is in support of Ray Comfort. I don't see how it makes him look good at all but to each his own.

Interesting, compleatly wrong. Corn would be an even better example of designed food products, because guess what, they where designed by useing a process called selecitive breeding.

But bananas are what's discussed on the video, hence my link to the skepticswiki article on the argument put foward in the video

ETA: I think I may have misunderstood what you were getting at though.

I thought the bananas that we eat were also designed through selective breeding. I mean, I don’t even think they are fertile fruits, kind of like seedless grapes. Thus, can not exist without humans doing some cross breeding, the ones we like to eat are the mules of the banana world.

Consider the egg. It's a miracle.
A marvel of nature, no joke.
It is oblate, not perfectly sperical,
With a shell to keep in white and yolk.

It is boilable, poachable, fryable.
It scrambles. It makes a sauce thicken.
It is also the only reliable.
Device for producing a chicken.

Go to College,
Continue your knowledge,
To become a person
Brave, smart and true.

For if they can make Penecillin
From mouldy bread,
They can surely make
Something of you.

Ironically, the humble banana's most remarkable attribute is that, inserted sideways, it matches perfectly the creationist's supercilious grin.

If the banana had a layer of chocolate inside then I'd consider it.

But even then would that prove it? No. It's natural that a fruit would evolve with some kind of tasty and nutricious substance inside; so that we'd eat it and thereby distribute its seeds. But how about things like honey and sugarcane? Does the organism producing these substances benefit from something eatinmg it? If not then this indicates a kind of "negative intelligent design". In other words, God did design life, but He's a bastard and a trickster so He decided to create life so that it screw us up!

I know that banana trees are not technicaly trees, I am not sure what the banana started off as. But for corn, look at the leaves wrapped around the seeds, this is suicide for a grass as it can not naturaly disperse its seeds, but to humans it is a favorable trait as it can not naturaly disperse its seeds, so you don't have to worry about them being dispersed, and can harvest more of them.

Looking at food crops and finding evidence of design is a foolish undertaking, because so many of them are designed through selective breeding to be what people want them. Carrots are not naturaly orrange, but they where breed that way.

So many fruits are naturaly nothing like their domesticated varieties because we breed them for fruit to be the size we want.

It's not selective breeding, It's cloning.

The bananas you get in your supermarket are all clones, they are produced by cutting an nuturing offshoots of other banana plants. In fact it's this very method that makes the curent banana vaunerable to near extiction. Because it cannot evolve it cannot fight off new desises.

It's an argument for why studying evolution is important! lol.

They compleatly ignored the multiuse nature of the banana design, as both food and sex toy. Talk about being well designed

Not to mention the fact it was also designed for comedic entertainment as well
Slipping on banana peels
"I'm not fallin for no banana in the tailpipe"

And chemical highs as well from smoking banana peels

WOW, 1 fruiting body to have all of those functions. Hmm, ID is real!

Had the JWs round the other day. Took a load of leaflets off them just in case they got in the wrong hands. The I.D one was great, the arguments went.

Man copied nature by designing an aeroplane wing like a fish’s fin therefore God designed the earth.

Convinced me.

And, IMHO, inserted sideways in the other end of their digestive system it would let them smile out the other of their two faces. And it would really give them something to think about.:D
