I ran across this website about projectile impact on Earth. Rather fascinating stuff, when you think about it. Brings to mind some of what we saw in the movie Armageddon. (Though, when I think about it, this site is more entertaining. God, I can't stand Ben Affleck.)

This calculator is next to useless, why look what happens when you try to estimate the effect of a object a mere 40000km away!

Please re-enter the following items:
Distance from Impact
Note: The distance must be less than half the circumference of the earth

A much more useful calculator would work out the effects of TWO giant comets colliding outside the earth and raining down debris.
